Happy FULL POND Day! 🌊😀

At 5:03 a.m. on March 7, 1966, Smith Mountain Lake officially reached 795 feet above sea level - full pond - for the very first time. The massive hydroelectric project that began in 1960 was finally complete, with the water depth at the dam recorded at 200 feet that day.

This year's Full Pond Day is especially meaningful as we celebrate Smith Mountain Lake's 60th Anniversary - six decades of history, growth, recreation, and community built around this incredible lake. What began as an ambitious engineering project has become one of Virginia's most beloved destinations for lake life.
