I'm officially a nationally certified reflexologist! It was a long process and one that I am proud of for accomplishing. And, yes I was excited to finally have the paper in my hand! If you know me, or have ever met me, you would know that I love books! I often joke that I haven't met a book that doesn't want to live with me. Suggested reading...I buy them all. Since becoming a reflexologist my library has focused on books about the human body, they are fascinating and the more I learn the hungrier I am to know more!

This past week, two people that I greatly admire have passed away - Joan Didion and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. While they are not writers of fascia, bones, lymphatic or such... they write beautifully about the human heart and how we love with it, break it, protect it. The two books I am holding are the two that lived on my nightstand the longest...I couldn't put them down and I didn't want them to end. I'm grateful for the love and wisdom they shared. I'm grateful a piece of them lives in my home and in my heart.

Compared to the last time you bought new shoes...When was the last time you had your feet measured?
I measure all my clients feet during our first session. The importance of how your shoes fit and what that means for the rest of your body is huge!
Did you know that shoes are made with a matching heel - toe and arch length...makes sense. However, only 20% of the population have feet that have measurements that match! 🤯That means that 80% of us are wearing shoes that only fit one dimension of our foot...if we're lucky! The wrong size shoe will affect our gait, posture, foot disorders, foot shape and even your mood! What are your shoes doing to you?

The holidays are upon us! Which for many of us it's like saying, "let the stress begin!" Every year I usually put off wrapping and organizing gifts until just about the time to open them. I always feel like I have more time than I actually do. This year I turned my dining room into a wrapping and craft center. My goal is to actually find the peace and joy of the season while I am in it, rather than when it's over! I would also like to extend my help to all of my local friends looking to enjoy the season or just looking for a gift to give! My Veterans Story:
So this past September my husband and I were blessed to go on a trip to the Dominican Republic, thanks to the generosity of his employer and my husband's hard work... love you babe! On the first leg of the flight I met Joe. Joe has neuropathy and asked my husband to open his bottle for him because his hands just don't work like they used to. Now, what you should know about me is I get excited about words people say... like neuropathy... because that triggers a host of ways I have been able to help people however, it's 4:30 am, this person is a stranger, it's a pandemic and I cannot just grab strangers! So we all board the plane and, lo and behold, Joe sits across the aisle from me and HE strikes up a conversation...Joe is a veteran, on his way to see family and his hands hurt all the time. I gave him my card and told him about reflexology...and then we were told our take off was going to be delayed a bit...so I offered him some hand reflexology.
Long post long, we reached across the aisle and I did reflexology lymph drainage session on his hands. Afterwards he kept looking at his hands, making fists and saying, "that was incredible, my hands don't hurt!" We didn't talk anymore after and when we got off the plane he thanked me and we went our separate ways. I thought a lot about Joe and our veterans and about the health care system and challenges they can face.
About a month ago I received a postcard from Joe. He thanked me again and said he hoped that I continue to introduce myself to strangers and tell them about reflexology because I really helped him. I cried when I read his postcard, he had sent it from his time with his family and that touched my heart.

And so, thank you Joe for encouraging me to do what's in my heart. In honor of you and all the veterans, active military and first responders in my life I am offering a discount. In addition, on Veterans day, I am offering free consultations from 9am to noon.

Five years ago today was the first day I opened my practice. I was nervous, excited and fresh off of graduation from reflexology school. I had no idea what to expect but I knew I was ready for anything!

I had one client that day. She called the office and I told her I could see her as soon as she could arrive. I was told this person was fired by her massage therapist for being difficult and my excitement turned to straight nerves. I think I just sweat and paced until she arrived. She had a peaceful session and barely spoke a word to me. She thanked me and left. The next day her husband called. He wanted to buy a gift certificate for her so she could come and see me again. He told me that he had never seen her so relaxed and at peace and I was all she talked about for the rest of the day. Her birthday was coming up so, reflexology became her perfect gift. I'm pretty sure I cried after he left.

I still cry. Not the nervous, holy $*!t cry but, the "holy smokes the body is so amazing, I cannot believe I am blessed to do this" cry. The "I touched a life" kind of cry. Reflexology excites me. I think about it and study it every day. I cannot hear someone is in pain without offering to help. It's my reflex. So, thank you to everyone that has trusted me enough to try reflexology. Thank you for sharing your time with me. You fill my heart and are all part of the reason I am so excited to go to work today and every day.

So, what happened to my first client. She passed away a couple years ago. When I found out I burst into tears. I hadn't seen her in awhile but she was the first one to give me a chance. For that, I will forever be grateful.

I always love every chance I get to talk about reflexology! This past week has been rejuvenation for my soul! I'm grateful to for granting me space and encouraging me!
