Area Ambulance has just announced that they will be generously donating one of our Ambulances as well as multiple medical supplies to Ukraine to assist in prehospital critical care as it’s needed. At this time, we are asking for your help in filling the ambulance with new/unused sleeping bags.

Have you ever seen someone driving behind you with a blue flashing light? What does that blue light mean?

In Iowa, a blue light displayed on a vehicle indicates a volunteer firefighter is responding to a 911 call in their personal vehicle. They are responding to their firehouse to provide the manpower for emergency apparatus to respond to the emergency.

If you see a passenger car with a flashing blue light, please consider treating it like any other emergency vehicle; we are requesting the right of way - this is a courtesy light. When it is safe to do so, please pull over to the right and come to a complete stop, so that we may travel safely past.

Many don't know about the flashing blue lights. Every second counts. Help us help you. You never know, we could be responding to an emergency for a friend or one of your loved ones.

We would like to remind all drivers to watch out for school buses. The law requires drivers to stop at least 15 feet from a stopped school bus whose red or amber lights are flashing. The penalty for failing to do so is a fine of at least $250.00 and up to 30 days in jail. Additionally, the driver’s license is suspended for 30 days. Shares welcomed and appreciated. Stay safe Jackson County!

Our providers are attending training today sponsored by the Bellevue Ambulance Service. Continuous education is required by our service so we can provide the most up to date medical care to the folks that we serve.
