This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

As you spend time outdoors this holiday weekend, don’t forget to protect your skin!

- Apply SPF daily
- Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours (every 40 minutes if swimming!)
- Wear protective clothing + hats and seek shade when possible

Our office will be closed this coming Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday.

It’s Skin Cancer Awareness Month!

Let's talk about the difference between these 3 very important skin cancers!

🌞 Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common skin cancer. It begins in basal cells in the lower epidermis, usually grows slowly, and is commonly caused by long-term UV exposure from sunlight or tanning beds. It often appears as a pearly or shiny bump, a nonhealing sore, or a scaly patch on sun-exposed skin.

🌞 Squamous Cell Carcinoma is a common skin cancer that begins in squamous cells near the skin’s surface, usually from long-term cumulative UV exposure. It often appears as a rough, scaly red patch, a firm bump, or a sore that crusts, bleeds, or won’t heal.

🌞 Melanoma is one of the most dangerous types of skin cancer. It begins in melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells of the skin, and is commonly (but not always) linked to UV exposure. It often appears as a new or changing mole with irregular borders, multiple colors, asymmetry, or rapid growth.

Stay aware of changes on your skin, stay updated with skin checks, and as always remember to wear sunscreen!
