Katie here!! After months and months of trying to rename this page to "Suburban Family Doulas" to no avail (thanks fb 😒), I've finally realized the need to "start over" with a new page. I'm VERY sad about it because my ENTIRE journey to becoming a doula is documented on this page 😢 .. but here is to the bright future!! A new page named "Suburban Family Doulas" has been created.

I will be moving over some of the content from this page to the new page overtime, so I don't lose all of those memories but for now, I ask that you all PLEASE go and follow our new page "Suburban Family Doulas" so that we do not lose you all too!! ❤️

Have you heard of "laboring down"?
This is a technique that can be used with those who choose an epidural (when you are unmedicated, your body tells you when it's time to push, and we recommend listening to that 😉).

Can you start to push once your cervix is completely dilated? Sure... but you can also rest / take a nap and let your body do the work to bring your baby further down in the pelvis!

Katie here! I learned about laboring during before I had my 3rd baby after pushing for 3.5 hours with my first (very typical with first births + epidural combo) & 4 hours with my second (sunny side up baby🙃).
Going into my third, I was VERY adamant about sitting upright & laboring down. The nurse was very nervous with it being my third and rightfully so because that boy FLEW out 🤣. No real pushing efforts needed 🙌
