✨MANAGEMENT SPOTLIGHT✨

This weeks spotlight recognizes Paramedic Field Supervisor Tristen Books! Tristen is a native of West Monroe and is a graduate of West Monroe High School. After graduating, Tristen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Combat Engineer. After being discharged from the military, Tristen wanted to find a fulfilling career where he could continue to serve his community the same way he served his country. Tristen says he began watching A&E’s hit show “Nightwatch,” and thus won over Tristen’s heart to the EMS field. Tristen worked hard to get his EMT Basic license and started soaking in all of the knowledge and skill he could. Tristen has been serving Ouachita Parish for the last three years, and this year he gained his Paramedic license! In Tristen’s true fashion, he refused to get complacent and started working his way up the ladder. He says he wanted to further advance his career and take every opportunity available to him, so he applied for the management team as Paramedic Field Supervisor! Since then, Tristen has been working to be the best version of himself he can be - and he’s doing great! Tristen is known around the station as funny, dependable, and strong-spirited. In his free time, Tristen enjoys fishing, playing games, cooking, and spending time with his wife and children.

Congratulations, Tristen! We are so lucky to have such a strong leader and even better friend!

✨MANAGEMENT SPOTLIGHT✨

This week’s Management Spotlight recognizes Paramedic Field Supervisor Emilee Martinez! Emilee was born and raised in Monroe, and is a graduate of West Ouachita High School. Emilee says she has always had an interest in the healthcare profession, and she has always been fascinated by everything the field has to offer. A few years ago, while Emilee’s late father was placed on ECMO in the hospital, she became curious about the treatments her father was receiving and started to do some research. One click lead to another, and eventually, Emilee started watching Nightwatch on A&E featuring New Orleans EMS. The high-intensity and adrenaline shown on the show put stars in Emilee’s eyes. With that, the rest is history! Emilee started working day in and day out to live her dream of being an emergency medical professional. Emilee obtained her EMT certification two years ago, and later went on to the National EMS Academy affiliated through South Louisiana Community College to complete her Paramedic program. Since then, Emilee has been known as a stellar Paramedic, and an even better friend. To know Emilee is to love her, and crews around the station know her to be reliable, determined, hilarious, trustworthy, and an excellent role model for the present and future of the EMS profession as a whole. This year, Emilee decided she wanted to be the change she wanted to see, and also the leader she always wanted to see in management. Then, in true Emilee fashion, it was decided, so it came to be! Emilee has been serving our area as a Paramedic Field Supervisor since March of 2023, and she does it well! In her free time, Emilee likes to fish, spend time with her friends and family, make and enjoy art, and trying new recipes and restaurants!

Congratulations, Emilee! This ship wouldn’t run as smooth as it does without you!

✨MANAGEMENT SPOTLIGHT✨

Welcome to the management spotlight! This is our way of putting a face to the names of the superstars that help keep our wheels turning, our sanity at the fullest it can be, and everything running as smooth as possible. Todays spotlight recognizes EMT Field Supervisor Lucas Drummer! Lucas is a native of Coushatta, Louisiana and graduated from Lakeview High School in 2017. Lucas then attended Louisiana Tech University, followed by Central Louisiana Technical Community College where he received his Associate’s Degree in Industrial Manufacturing/Instrumentation. While looking for his next steps, Lucas spoke to his good friend (who is also a Paramedic Field Supervisor) about the EMS field. Lucas listened intently, fascinated by the stories told to him by his friend. He was also drawn to the “second family” nature this career brings among coworkers. Lucas then packed his life and moved to Ouachita Parish, where he began working towards getting his EMT license, which he passed with flying colors. Since March of 2022, Lucas has been known by his coworkers as reliable, funny, and a top notch clinician. Over time, Lucas realized he wanted to do more. He wanted to give back to his coworkers all the kindness that was given to him, as well as play his role in building the future of EMS as a whole. With some encouragement from other members of management, Lucas applied for the position of EMT Field Supervisor and has been serving as a member of the management team ever since. Lucas is currently enrolled in the Accelerated Paramedic Program with the National EMS Academy with hopes to graduate and pass his National Registry exams to get his Paramedic license! In his free time, Lucas likes to hang out with his friends, play video games, spend time with his family, fishing, and visiting his loved ones in his hometown.

Congratulations, Lucas! We are so beyond grateful for you and all you do!
