You quickly learn in the fostering journey the uncertainty of it all — the child’s plan changing, getting a call from the caseworker that they’re on their way, visitations being canceled, court dates delayed, and so on. As a foster caregiver, you reluctantly learn how little control you truly have. That’s why it’s so encouraging to remember that we can place our trust in the One who is in control.

We can trust Him, knowing that in all of life’s uncertainty, He never changes. His steadfast love, His goodness, His faithfulness — they all remain the same. He loves the children placed in our homes more than we ever could, and He loves us too. He sees us in the hardship and the uncertainty, and He draws near with His never-changing character.

During the annual meeting of the Louisiana Baptist Convention, Dr. Steve Horn honored Dr. Perry Hancock and his wife, Tonya, for over 22 years of dedicated service to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries. As President and CEO since 2002, Dr. Hancock’s vision and compassion have transformed countless lives. He recently announced his plans to retire at the end of February 2026.

We are so excited to share that five members of our Family Services and Connect1Child teams were able to attend TBRI (Trust-based Relational Intervention) Practitioner Training in New Orleans this week!

TBRI is an attachment-centered, trauma-informed model of care that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children.

Our team has been learning from field experts all week about how to effectively implement TBRI principles when working with children and families served by LBCH.

We are looking forward to all the ways this training will enhance the services LBCH offers to children and families throughout our state!
