🐾 Therapy Dog? Service Dog? Facility Dog? 🐾
They’re all amazing, but they have different jobs!

✅ Service Dog- Specially trained to help one person with a disability by performing specific tasks, like guiding someone who is visually impaired or alerting to medical conditions.

✅ Therapy Dog- Visits schools, hospitals, and other places to bring smiles and comfort for short periods.

✅ Facility Dog – Works every day alongside a trained professional in places like child advocacy centers, courthouses, or schools to provide ongoing support and comfort during challenging times.

At the Green County Child Advocacy Center, our facility dog Nexa is part of our team. She was specifically trained to work with children during ongoing treatment and provide comfort during challenging times.

We were excited for Nexa and Adrienne (CAC Trauma Therapist) to be spotlighted in a recent Green County TV segment! Nexa provides support to kids during mental health treatment and beyond. We are so excited for her partnership with our program therapists and as part of our ongoing services.

The Green County Child Advocacy Center welcomed its newest staff member in early June, Nexa the Therapy Dog. Nexa means connection, and that’s exactly what she provides children during forensic interviews, whether its through a snuggle or a listening ear.

Thank you again to Dano’s BBQ & Catering and the incredible community members who showed up on Saturday to support the 2nd Annual Give Back Event. It was great getting to thank so many in person - and of course, the incredible food.

Our food pantry and snack cabinet is going to be stocked for awhile.

First impressions matter, and thanks to the support of our community, the front of the Green County Child Advocacy Center has never looked better!

We are so grateful to the Monroe Kiwanis for their generous donation in 2024 that helped complete the beautiful bricked planter at our entrance. This meaningful addition creates a warm and welcoming first impression for the children and families we serve. A heartfelt thank you to Sue L. for filling the planter with stunning perennials that bring life, color, and a sense of peace to our space.

Because of our community, we've created a space that says: you are safe, you are welcome, you are cared for.

The week of July 7-11th is National Forensic Interviewer Week.

Forensic interviewers play a critical role in the CAC model, as these professionals employ evidence-informed interview approaches that are both legally defensible and trauma-informed. Forensic interviewers act as a bridge from the point of intervention to the services that are connected to kids' healing and thriving.

Thank you to the forensic interviewers working with the Green County CAC, as well as interviewers in Wisconsin and across the United States. Your services are valued and you make a difference every single day!

The Green County CAC has been keeping a big surprise under wraps! We are excited to announce that the CAC has welcomed the addition of a facility dog. The addition of Nexa to our team reflects our commitment to innovation in trauma-informed care and mental health support. Whether sitting beside a child during a tough session or offering a distraction during high-stress moments, our new facility dog will play a vital role in helping children move from crisis to confidence.

Nexa has been in training for the last two years through the organization Dogs for Better Lives. This week, Nexa is training her new handler Adrienne. We cannot wait for you to meet her. Welcome to the team, Nexa!
