September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month 🩸
Did you know that blood transfusions are one of the most critical treatments for sickle cell disease? A single patient with sickle cell disease can require thousands of blood transfusions throughout their lifetime. People with sickle cell disease often need blood from someone with a close blood type match, usually someone with a similar race or ethnicity.
