A lot of parenting advice focuses on behavior.
But behavior is usually the last thing to make sense.
What’s underneath it matters more.
That’s one of the reasons I often recommend The Whole-Brain Child.
This is a book I’ve personally used, both in my work with families and in how I think about helping kids regulate. It does a really good job of explaining what’s actually happening in a child’s brain during big emotions.
It helps parents understand:
why kids melt down
why logic doesn’t work in the moment
what their child actually needs when emotions take over
Because when kids are overwhelmed, they’re not choosing behavior.
Their brain just isn’t in a place to do better yet.
✔️ helps you make sense of big reactions
