Every summer most of us tell ourselves we'll rest, reset, and finally feel better.

But rest alone doesn't heal what's underneath.

At Healing Journey Counseling Center, we work with adults, men, women, teens 12 and up because everyone deserves a space to heal. No matter who you are or what you're carrying.

This summer, invest in the kind of change that actually lasts. ☀️❤️‍🩹

Happy National Mental Health Provider Appreciation Day! 💚

Today, I want to take a moment to honor and celebrate the incredible therapists who I partner with to make Healing Journey Counseling Center what it is.

Every single day, they show up with open hearts, compassionate ears, and a genuine commitment to helping people through their healing journey.

Mental health providers do work that is not always easy. We hold space for pain, trauma, grief, and struggle. We do it with grace, and dedication. We show up for others while navigating our own lives too. We carry our own joys, challenges, and human experiences, yet we walk through that door every single day, set it all aside, and pour ourselves fully into the people we serve. Because when you sit across from us, this moment is about you and not us. No judgment, shame. Just a genuine, safe presence fully dedicated to your healing.

To our amazing therapists at Healing Journey Counseling Center: thank you for choosing this path. Thank you for showing up for our clients every single day. Thank you for being the light on someone's healing journey.

Everyone knows the obvious signs but some of the most common ones hide in plain sight, and we brush them off as "just being tired" or "just being stressed."

Here are some common mental health signs we don't talk about enough. These signs are real and valid. And they deserve care and attention j
ust like any other symptom.
If you've been carrying any of these quietly, we want you to know: you don't have to keep carrying it alone.

Seeing yourself in someone else’s story reminds you that you’re not alone. But here’s what we need to talk about this Mental Health Awareness Month.

Relating to someone’s symptoms is not the same as having their diagnosis.

When you scroll through social media and see someone share their experience with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder or anything else and think it sounds like you is a feeling of relatability and NOT a clinical diagnosis.

Mental health is deeply personal. Two people can have the same diagnosis and experience it in completely different ways. Just like two people can share the same symptoms and have completely different diagnoses.

This is not to dismiss what you’re feeling because your feelings are valid.

If something feels off, please reach out to a mental health professional.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but at Healing Journey Counseling Center, we believe mental health deserves a seat at the table every single day.

For too long, "getting help" has been whispered about as if it’s a sign of weakness. Let’s set the record straight: Choosing to go to therapy is an act of courage and a commitment to yourself.

Breaking the barrier starts with normalizing the conversation. It’s okay to not be okay, to ask for support, and to prioritize your peace over your productivity.

Whether you are navigating a difficult season, managing a long-term condition, or simply want a safe space to process your thoughts, you don't have to walk that path alone.

Many people suppress feelings to avoid conflict, rejection, or confrontation.

So they stay quiet when hurt, say “it’s fine” when it isn’t, and keep others comfortable while disconnecting from themselves.

But keeping peace around you while creating chaos within you comes at a cost such as resentment, anxiety, numbness, and feeling unseen.

Real peace includes honesty, boundaries, and making space for your feelings too.

You deserve peace around you and within you.
