Our manufacturing plant is located in Florence, AL and from there it distributes the products to our warehouses located throughout the east coast. Founded in 1939 as a small casket jobber located in the heart of Washington, D.C., Thacker Caskets has grown to become the largest family owned casket company in the United States! Thacker employs a business to business selling model, selling caskets to

licensed funeral directors throughout the east coast and independent casket distributors from coast to coast. Keeping true to their principals, Thacker aims to provide an honest product at an honest price. Thacker Casket Manufacturing, located in Florence, Alabama, employs approximately 200 Alabama and Tennessee workers who carefully craft Thacker's metal casket line. The manufacturing division of the company, Thacker Casket Manufacturing, has allowed the company to bring innovative products to the market that are right for today's constantly changing business landscape. Thacker is a true family business that embodies the same ideals of many of its family owned and operate customers. An esteemed manufacturing division, sales staff, and customer service team support three generations of Thacker's who currently work for the business. Thacker's rich history in the funeral industry and expert staff create an easy customer experience.

We’re excited to celebrate Tim as the recipient of Thacker’s 2025 Elevation Award – Rookie of the Year! 🌟

This award recognizes someone who has made a meaningful impact within their first two years at Thacker, and Tim has done exactly that. In a short time, he has grown from serving funeral homes across our Ohio and Pennsylvania region as an in-house Sales Consultant to helping train and mentor new consultants in his role as Sales Director.

He stepped into a brand new territory in 2022 and promptly made it his own. Three years later, Erik Varnum is Thacker Caskets, Inc.'s 2025 Salesperson of the Year.

Thacker just wrapped up its National Sales Meeting in Florence, Alabama, where the team toured the manufacturing facility, built caskets from scratch with their own hands, and gathered to recognize the people who showed up for funeral homes all year long. Varnum, who covers Southern Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, and Western Georgia, took home the top honor. But he wasn't alone: Bob Cullen was recognized for 35 years with Thacker, the Spear Award went to Will Drew, and a guy named Bren Miller walked away with the Unparalleled Positivity Award, which honestly sounds like the best award of the night.

This year’s Annual Sales Meeting and Awards Banquet brought us to the home of our manufacturing plant in Florence, Alabama!

Our sales team took part in targeted educational presentations, toured the plant, and even had the unique opportunity to create their own casket from start to finish. Unfortunately… it did not pass inspection. 😄

We are incredibly proud to share that CJ Thacker has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award — a truly special recognition of his lasting impact on the funeral supply industry.

CJ received this honor alongside Tony Ferro of Superior Casket, who was recognized posthumously, and we also celebrate Shannon McGhee of Matthews Memorialization, who was awarded the Audrey Thacker Woman of Excellence in Funeral Supply Award. We are grateful to stand among such remarkable individuals who have helped shape the funeral profession.

While the CFSA has made the difficult decision to dissolve, we are reminded that organizations may come and go, but the relationships, friendships, and memories built over the years will last forever. The legacy of this community will continue to live on through all of us.
