1️⃣ Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): Perfect for mild nerves! It helps you float through your appointment, but wears off in minutes—so you can drive yourself home safely! 🚗💨

Dental Myth or Fact?

Dr. Q is here for any questions that patients may have regarding their dental health. We see a lot of information on social media on daily basis and it is difficult to filter which dental information is true or which ones are myths.

Here are a couple that we have seen frequently:

❌ MYTH: "My gums are bleeding when I floss, so I should stop touching them and let them heal."

✅ FACT: Bleeding is actually a sign of active infection (Gingivitis). It means bacteria is trapped there. You need to floss more, not less, to clear the infection. Healthy gums don’t bleed!

Dr. Q’s Takeaway: "Think of it this way: if your hands bled when you washed them, you wouldn't stop washing them—you’d want to get the wound clean. It’s the same with your gums."

❌ MYTH: "The harder I scrub with my toothbrush, the cleaner and whiter my teeth will be."

✅ FACT: Plaque is soft and sticky (like yogurt). You don't need to "scrub" it off; you just need to disrupt it. Brushing too hard actually wears away your enamel and pushes your gums back, leading to yellowing and sensitivity.

Dr. Q’s Takeaway: "Massage your teeth, don't scrub the floor. Soft bristles only!"

❌ MYTH: "As long as I drink 'Sugar-Free' or 'Diet' sodas, my teeth are safe from cavities."

✅ FACT: Sugar isn't the only enemy—Acid is. Diet sodas are highly acidic. Even without sugar, the acid attacks your enamel, softening it and making your teeth prone to erosion and cavities.

Dr. Q’s Takeaway: "It’s not just the sugar bug you have to watch out for. After a diet soda, rinse with water immediately to neutralize the acid attack!"

We’ve all been there. You go to enjoy a cold drink or a scoop of ice cream, and—OUCH. 😖

If you are dealing with sensitive teeth this winter, you aren't alone, and you definitely don't have to just "live with it."
Why does it happen? 🤔 Usually, it means the protective shield of your tooth (enamel) has thinned, or your gums have pulled back slightly, exposing the sensitive layer underneath called dentin.

The Top 3 Culprits:
1️⃣ Aggressive Brushing: Scrubbing too hard can wear down enamel. (Gentle circles only, please!)
2️⃣ Acidic Foods: Soda, citrus, and coffee can erode that protective layer over time.
3️⃣ Grinding: Stress-grinding (bruxism) creates micro-cracks that lead to sensitivity.

What can you do?
✅ Switch to a Soft bristle brush immediately.
✅ Try a toothpaste specifically for sensitivity (give it 2 weeks to work!).

With the technology Dr. Q Dental has in house we are able to quickly restore dental implants. The process is 3 simple steps that Dr. Q is a professional at providing for patients:

1️⃣ An impression of your crown will be taken upon initial visit

2️⃣ A temporary crown will be given to patients, while the Dr. Q and the team fabricate the dental corn in-house at their Monrovia office.

3️⃣ Once the permanent crown is finished patients will come in to switch out the temporary one.
