We have some exciting news to share!

Frederick Christian Counseling is offering a High School Girls Therapy Group!

The group will be lead by 2 licensed therapists and it will run 6 weeks, starting in May.

The goal is for high school girls to have a supportive and caring environment to explore topics in depth and learn coping skills and strategies that can be practically implemented - under the banner of Jesus, Biblical principles and a Christian worldview.

Thanks Krista, I loved this.

I am fortunate to be a health care worker. To be honest, I don't need free pizza or free cups of coffee, I don't need money-off vouchers or to be first in line at Costco or anywhere else. I am grateful to be part of the solutions right now.

As much as I greatly appreciate the gesture: PLEASE offer a free cup of coffee or pizza to the family struggling to feed their children, the older generation, the small businesses and self employed who unable to operate, or anyone else suffering financially from COVID-19 measures who may not be covered by government grants or loans.

Most of us are not scientists or doctors. We’re in this global pandemic together, doing our best to follow public health guidelines. We don’t even know what we don’t know. What we can control, however, is what God has put before us: following guidelines for social distancing, guiding our families in faith, and doing the work we’ve been called to do.

In a crisis, many of us neglect what’s in front of us in favor of needless worry and fear concerning those things over which we have no jurisdiction. That’s the opposite of faith. To trust God is to release our burdens and walk in obedience to Him. To be still in the places where we are powerless—and faithful where He has given us responsibility. When everything in life seems stripped away from us, we still have God- His word, His presence, and His promises.

Its' amazing how much we are blessed with, yet most of the time we focus on what we don't have or things we've had to give up.

Life is full of storms that catch us off guard. Remember that God positions provision for his children. Take a look at the people, opportunities, and talents within your reach and Thank God for what He has given you.

Today I am grateful to all the essential people and businesses who have shown up, and continued pressing forward: the first responders, the churches, the healthcare workers- all have gone the extra mile and found creative ways "be there" and keep on serving. We see you, and we thank you.

With the recommendations for social distancing, many people are feeling alone and isolated. I’m hearing kids say they wish school was in session (WHAAA?!) Yes, a majority of kids are wishing school was in session. I believe one of the reasons is because are hard-wired for connection, for community, to be with people.

Remember that depression can be the result of a chemical imbalance or the result of situational circumstances. No type of depression is more “real” than another, and both can present significant challenges and threats to wellbeing, and both need treatment.

In these times where we’re told to distance from others, and the news reports are bleak, I encourage you to find creative ways to connect with your community, to check on one another, and to remember that we are stronger together.

Trust overcomes fear.

With the world around us feeling shaken and unstable, I encourage you to rely on God’s wisdom and less upon feelings.

Some of my favorite promises in God’s word:

Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT)
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

Romans 8:28 (NIV)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”

Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Conflict is inevitable. Whoever got the idea into our heads that “marriage should be easy” probably wasn't married.

This article highlights one key to resolving conflict:
shifting to a place where it’s not “Us against each other” but “Us against the problem”.

It also highlights the healthy (but challenging) habit of forgiveness.

Conflict with your spouse is inevitable for all couples. Whoever got the idea into our heads that “marriage should be easy” probably wasn’t married.
