In the gym...effort is king.
That's what attracted me to strength training in the first place way back when I started cross-training over 15 years ago. The harder, more diligent you work, the better results you get and the more confident you feel.
In the ballet world, that's not the case. You can literally kill yourself for your art...and still not feel 'seen.'
So many other factors determine your success in your career. And many are out of your realm of control - genetics, subjective opinions (directors, critics, peers), life circumstances, financial resources...
That's why, as a dancer, it's crucial to have other things in life to build your self-worth. You can't base your value as a person on the success of your dance career on paper.
That's what my Bulletproof Ballerina Training does for me (besides providing the obvious strength, injury resiliency, power, health, stamina, etc).
And that gives me the confidence to put myself out there in my art.
Even if I don't have a ballet body.
Even if I don't hail from elite ballet schools.
Even if my life circumstances don't allow me to focus on ballet 24/7.
Even if I'm not awarded the highest contracts or status.
I can still be proud of what I have to give to my art...and who I am as a human.
There's a beauty in not needing ballet to prove your worth. Ironically, it frees you up to give more... without expecting anything in return. And that's where real art exists.🤍
