Every parent has seen big emotions… but tantrums and meltdowns are not the same.
👉 Tantrums usually come from frustration or wanting something they can’t have (like more playtime or skipping homework). They’re often short-lived and can stop when your child gets emotional support/attention or what they want.
👉 Meltdowns are caused by overwhelm, too much emotion, or sensory input for a child’s nervous system to handle. These aren’t manipulative, and they can last longer as your child struggles to regain control.
So, how do we help? Here are a few short-term strategies that can support kids through meltdowns:
👉 Sips of cold water or crunchy snacks
👉 Rhythmic, regulating sounds or music
👉 Deep pressure input (bear hugs, squeezes)
👉 Mindful breathing (“Smell the flower, blow the pinwheel”)
👉 Visual imagery (glitter jars, guided relaxation)
These help in the moment. For lasting change, Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care helps calm the nervous system so kids can thrive. 💙 DM us—we’re here to help!

Moms, do you dread getting that daily report sheet from your child's teacher because there always seems to be so much room for improvement?
That’s exactly how Nathan’s mom was feeling — until recently, when she got an unexpected surprise.
Nathan received a “Great” for his behavior during the morning. 💫
It’s not perfect, but it’s a BIG win for Nathan.
Before Nathan came to True North, he was experiencing sensory issues, frequent stimming, and lots and lots of MELTDOWNS.
Any change in routine would set off a huge meltdown.
On top of that, he struggled with sleep — taking a long time to fall asleep and waking multiple times a night.
His mom was searching for answers and finally found the hope she had been looking for.
Since starting care, mom reports that Nathan is making major improvements — fewer meltdowns at home, calmer energy, and better focus.
He’s still experiencing some sensory challenges, but his progress is undeniable — and even his teachers are noticing.
Now, instead of dreading those daily reports, Mom actually looks forward to them.
“He’s making progress with focus and communication,” Mom said. “He’s more relaxed and more balanced overall!”
Because when the nervous system starts to calm and connect, everything else begins to follow. 🌿

Did you know that many early challenges in the first 12-18 months of life can be early indicators of a speech delay?
🆘 Difficulty latching or nursing
🆘 Digestive struggles (reflux, constipation, eczema)
🆘 Colic + fussiness
🆘 Torticollis + flat spots (plagiocephaly)
🆘 Recurring ear + respiratory infections
🆘 Missed or delayed milestones
Each of these signs shows extra stress on your child’s nervous system. This stress can make it harder for their brain to work the right way—like how it processes, coordinates, and communicates. That can set the stage for speech or developmental delays later on. These signs are early warning flags that your child’s nervous system needs support.
The sooner these signs are noticed and cared for, the better your child’s speech, growth, and overall health can be. 💙 You can find details on what to do if your child is showing any of these signs at the link in our bio. We’re here for you! 🫶

🌟 Jasmine’s Story: From Meltdowns & Sleepless Nights to Thriving and Finding Her Voice.
Before coming to True North, Jasmine was struggling big time with meltdowns, speech delays, and sleep. She had lost all of her words after 18 months old and was completely nonverbal for years. On top of that, she was waking up four times a night and struggling to fall asleep. Every day felt like walking on eggshells — her nervous system was overwhelmed, and mom was exhausted, desperate to help her daughter feel calm and connected again.

They had tried so many things to help — therapies, routines, specialists — but nothing seemed to truly shift what was going on underneath. It felt like Jasmine was locked inside herself, and mom wondered if she would ever be able to reach her again.

When they found True North, something felt different. From the very first visit, mom finally felt seen and supported. The neurological scans gave her answers she had been searching for — Jasmine’s nervous system was so dysregulated and “noisy” that her body couldn’t process or communicate clearly with the outside world. For the first time, there was hope that healing was possible from the inside out.

Little by little, mom started noticing soft signs of progress — more calm, fewer meltdowns, better sleep, and small moments of connection that began to grow. Then came the incredible moment: Jasmine started finding her voice again.

And now? Jasmine is absolutely thriving. 💛
She recently scored a 731 on her Maryland state English/Language Arts test — the state average is 748! For eight years she lived in nonverbal autism… and now, she’s catching up fast and shining bright.

Her mom said it best:

“A million thank yous wouldn’t ever be enough! Love you guys! 💛✨ Proud mama moment!”

Jasmine’s story is such a reminder that when the body and brain can finally communicate the way they were designed to, miracles happen.
