My dear friend, Dr. Vic Narurkar, died six years ago in late January, right around his birthday (January 31st).
In honor of my dear friend, Dr. Narurkar, I just wanted to remind all my Indian friends, family, followers, and patients that heart disease is unfortunately very high in the Indian population, and my dear friend died of a massive heart attack at the age of 50.
I miss him to this day. Every year to honor his memory and celebrate his birthday, I talk about how everyone needs to get their heart checked, but especially Indians, because they are more predisposed to cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, and sudden death.
This is a medical fact, and I recommend people do a calcium score to check for hard and soft plaque, do regular bloodwork, keep their cholesterol down, don’t smoke, exercise, have a more balanced diet, decrease red meat, and avoid a sedentary lifestyle!
Heart health is wealth and is critical for all of us, but this is a special shout-out to my Indian friends, family, and followers!
