1. Don’t treat the front desk people at the therapy office like crap. They are your ultimate gatekeepers to therapy. 2. You may not have chosen your child with special needs but remember, your therapist did. They are your co-laborers, not your enemies. They have bad days too just like you. They show up to work with YOUR child and they have to do it with kindness and patience. Be kind. There are other things that could be doing.3. You are not owed your ideal appointment time. There are other kids with special needs just like yours who need treatment. 4. Your child may plateau and not ever learn how to walk. Please don’t blame it on the therapist. There are other methods of mobility and your child’s therapist can help you explore all of the options. 5. Your child may not be as well-behaved as you think s/he is. Don’t allow your child to beat up the therapist. Truth be told, it’s one of the quickest ways to get your child recommended for discharge.6. No one is going advocate for your child like you will. So advocate like crazy.

The TheraSuit® is a breathable, soft dynamic orthotic used to improve and change proprioception, reduce pathological reflexes, restore physiological muscle synergies and load the entire body with weight similar to a reaction of our muscles to gravitational forces. It is one of the tools used in our Intensive Therapy Program, Rapha RehAbilities. The TheraSuit® coupled with our Universal Exercise Unit and system of pulleys, bungees, and cords allows patients to train and isolate desired patterns of movement to specifically strengthen the muscle groups responsible for that movement. The Universal Exercise Unit works to improve range of motion, muscle strength and joint flexibility, as well as functional skills. .
Our Intensive Therapy Program utilizes a holistic approach to treatment for those with neurological disorders like Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, and Traumatic Brain Injuries. The key element of this method is an intensive strengthening program established for the participant based on his individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. TheraSuit Method® is based on an intensive and specific exercise program aimed at the elimination of pathological reflexes and establishing new, correct, and functional patterns of movements. This intensive program is essential to provide consistency of therapeutic intervention and increased repetition of exercises necessary for significant muscle and neurological retraining. Intensive Therapy is provided on a one-on-one basis with our licensed, TheraSuit® certified physical and occupational therapists.
