As many of you may have heard, our beloved Sebern Fisher has recently experienced some health challenges. Following two minor strokes, she is now in rehab and doing well — still very much our Sebern — with her humor, strength, and spirit shining through, just as we’d expect. She’s mainly experiencing fatigue, but her recovery is steady and full of hope.

Many of you from around the world have reached out with love, concern, and deep gratitude for all that Sebern has given — her wisdom, her compassion, and the way she has guided and inspired so many of us in our own work of helping others heal. Her influence continues to ripple across the world, connecting people and communities dedicated to healing and hope.

We’ve created a free community space for all of us — her friends, students, colleagues, and community — to come together. Here, we’ll share updates on her recovery, and we can offer messages, stories, and reflections, and stay connected with one another.

Sebern has always believed in the healing power of connection, and this page is one small way to honor that truth. Let’s gather here, hold her close in our hearts, and keep the circle of love and support strong.

Looking forward to presenting on Deep Brain Reorienting at NIP's Integrative Trauma Program Colloquium on Oct 23rd. Grateful for the opportunity to share this work and connect with colleagues. If interested, you can register through the link in the original post.

🌟 Upcoming Event: Integrative Trauma Program Colloquium 🌟

We’re proud to share that Dr Clair Goldberg, Psy.D., BCN, will be presenting at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies' Integrative Trauma Program Colloquium:

✨ Deep Brain Reorienting: Traumatic Shock, the Brainstem, and Advances in Trauma Therapy ✨

📅 October 23, 2025
🕖 7:00 – 9:00pm EDT
📍 Online | 2 CE Credits available

Discover a powerful new way of understanding and treating trauma. Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), developed by Dr. Frank Corrigan, is a brainstem-focused psychotherapy that looks beyond cognition and emotion regulation. By addressing the earliest survival responses to trauma—those that arise before conscious awareness—DBR opens pathways to deep and lasting healing.

In this presentation, Dr. Goldberg will:
🔹Introduce DBR’s therapeutic framework
🔹Highlight the roles of orienting tension, shock, and affect regulation
🔹Share case studies and clinical applications
🔹Provide tools and insights clinicians can use in practice

This is an incredible opportunity for clinicians to gain tools and insight into trauma healing at its deepest levels.

🤝 Before war began with Iran, we met with leaders, survivors, and specialists—including the courageous Dr Clair Goldberg , referred by our trusted colleague Sebern Fisher, one of the world’s leading experts on neurofeedback and trauma. We welcome her to our Israel Healing Initiative team.

Dr. Clair brings expertise in neurofeedback and a groundbreaking trauma approach called Deep Brain Orienting, currently being used to treat war-traumatized Ukrainians.

She collaborates with Dr. Ruth Lanius, MD, PhD , one of the world’s leading trauma researchers, and we’re honored to have her on our team. Every meeting is a thread in the fabric of a healed Israel.

Another important contribution to the field of trauma by Dr Ruth Lanius and her team!

Another important contribution to the field of trauma by Dr Ruth Lanius and her team!

I’m very excited to share some big news — our brand-new book “Sensory Pathways to Healing from Trauma: Harnessing the Brain’s Capacity for Change” is available for pre-order! Our hope for this book is to reach clinicians, with the aim of bridging cutting-edge neuroscience with practical clinical tools.

Co-writing this book with my brilliant students and mentees — Sherain Harricharan, Breanne Kearney, and Benjamin Pandev-Girard — has been an incredible journey. We didn’t just write a book; we explored, debated, learned, and grew together. The process was full of insight, deep connection, and yes, a lot of laughter too. A sincere thank you to Dr. Dan Siegel for writing an eloquent foreword!

This book is the result of many late-night discussions, passionate research dives, and a shared vision for a more holistic approach to healing trauma. We can't wait for you to read it.
