There is something incredibly special about being invited back to support a family again. Walking into a birth space for the second time with parents I’ve already witnessed become a family is one of the greatest honors of my work. It’s a reminder that birth work is built on trust, relationship, and the privilege of being welcomed into some of life’s most intimate moments.
This time, the “plan” was a repeat cesarean. Birth, as it often does, had other plans. She went into labor on her own and surprised even herself with a powerful, beautiful VBAC. Watching her move through labor with such strength and determination was nothing short of incredible.
Birth has a way of keeping all of us humble. No matter how carefully we plan, there is always an element of surprise, unpredictability, and awe. And sometimes those unexpected turns lead to the most empowering moments.
Feeling deeply grateful to walk alongside families not just once, but again and again. What a gift this work is.

Have you heard that induction of labor using Pitocin is associated with increased pain levels? There’s a very real reason for that! The natural release of endorphins, the body's inherent painkillers, occurs at a slower rate compared to spontaneous labor. That hormonal dance is lost. This doesn’t mean inductions need to be horrible. We all know sometimes when medically necessary, sometimes babies are safer on the outside than the inside. However understanding the process and advocating for a slow (and steady) induction process can lead to a much more satisfying and healthy birth experience.

"Evidence shows that continuous labor support is one of the most important and basic needs of birthing people. And evidence clearly shows that a doula’s presence improves birth outcomes! Continuous labor support can lower the chances of needing a Cesarean, lower the use of medications for pain relief, and lower the risk of newborns experiencing a low five-minute Apgar score."

In addition to healthier birth outcomes, Doula’s increase parents satisfaction in their birth experience. We do this by validating your feelings, respecting your decisions, paying attention to the details, getting your partner involved and, maybe everyone’s favorite, we’re a form of pain pain relief! There are many reasons to hire a doula and I’m here to help you find yours.
