So honored to be President of this exceptional organization!

Selected is excited to announce the election of Barbara Risher Welch as President and Christopher Waite as Board Chair for 2026 as chosen by the Board of Directors at their recent meeting. Barbara is the President and Owner of Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service in Montebello, CA., and Christopher is the Owner of Waite Funeral Homes in Medina, OH. Barbara and Christopher represent Membership Groups 6 and 2 respectively, and they will begin their Officer terms at the 2025 Selected Annual Meeting being held September 28 – October 1st, in New Orleans, LA.

Please join us in congratulating Barbara and Christopher and thanking our entire Board of Directors for their volunteer service to the association.

On this Veteran's Day, I am proud to share my Father, the founder of Risher Montebello Mortuary, Raymond Risher. He was a proud WWII Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps (Air Force). Following in Grandpa's footsteps are our two Veteran children, Major Nathan Welch and Captain Kaylie Welch, who both served in the Air Force and now in the USAF Reserves. My Father-in-law, Calvin Welch, served in the Navy, both in WWII and the Korean War. So proud of all of them and proud to be an American.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Risher Mortuary is proud to support Mission Flight, a wonderful organization flying Doctors & Nurses to Baja, Mexico to provide eye surgeries to the farm workers. The surgeries are free and are available to all who inquire. Greg and I are richly blessed by this ministry. In fact, we are additionally blessed because our son, Nathan is one of the Mission Flight pilots, helping to make it all happen. God is Good!

Barbara Risher Welch, owner of Risher Mortuary, and husband, Greg Welch, just returned from the Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, Germany. Rotary International is a service organization for neighbors, friends, and problem solvers to share ideas, join leaders and take action to create a lasting change. Eradicating polio worldwide, clean water projects and educational opportunities for the underserved are just a few of the tremendous programs that Rotary is deeply engaged in. Barb is a 28 year member of the Montebello Rotary Club while Greg is the current President of the Rotary Club of Downey.
