Our Story

Founded in 1984, De La Peña Eye Clinic quickly became one of California’s largest providers of ophthalmic and optometric care. It was founded by The Honorable William C. De La Peña, M.D., Dr.h.c., an internationally renowned ophthalmologist and Professor of Ophthalmology, who leads a wonderful staff and group of highly specialized doctors. A multi-specialty, multi-lingual practice, it has treated more than 400,000 patients over the years, and has performed tens of thousands of surgeries, becoming one of the leading cataract surgery practices in the State. Since opening its doors on January 1st, 1984 in California, it now has locations in Montebello, Los Angeles, Huntington Park, Santa Ana and Van Nuys. It was one of the first practices in California to utilize state electronic billing, and all of the clinics are equipped with state-of-the art medical equipment. Throughout the years, it has trained ophthalmology residents and many international ophthalmologists who come to learn advanced surgical techniques, patient care methodology and administrative practices.
