Medicaid does not count funeral, cremation and cemetery arrangements as part of your net worth in most states. Therefore, if permissible in your state, when you purchase a prepaid plan, you are spending down your assets and could be increasing your likelihood for Medicaid eligibility.

Planning things out can be a source of relief for many, and though planning end-of-life details may seem sad, it doesn't have to be. And those who do it usually feel a burden lifted once arrangements—and funds—are in place.
Burial insurance for parents is a good idea—but there's something better. A prepaid funeral plan ensures you can pay for your parents' funeral at the time it is needed and protects against inflation.

Though the government offers excellent burial benefits when a veteran is buried in a state or national veterans cemetery, there's often limited financial assistance for funeral or cremation services themselves. HISTORY
In January 1963, Gordon Hoffman—a graduate of John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tennessee—moved from Citronelle, Alabama to Montevallo. At that time, he remodeled a house on Main Street, opening it as Hoffman Funeral Home. In 1965, Gordon died as his son-in-law Billy G. Rockco was attending John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science. Following his graduation, Billy resumed the business, changing the name to Hoffman-Rockco Funeral Home.
A few years later in 1968, the construction of a new facility began on Highway 25 South. Over the years, the facility was remodeled twice and is now currently known as Rockco Funeral Home.
In 1998, Billy retired after a long career dedicated to serving the community. Today, our funeral home is a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers.
