Hard pill to swallow: You may not always have a great reading.
Have you ever had a reading with a tarot reader, a medium, or a psychic, and had your mind absolutely blown?
I'm talking full body goosebumps and take your breath away moments that make you feel completely connected to the universe and it's magic.
I hope you HAVE had this experience at least once. I know I have!
And once you have had an experience like this, the bar is HIGH.
Have you ever had a reading and felt disappointed? To the point where you're like "is this reading for me or for someone else? Because none of this makes sense!"
I have! And it can suck in the moment, but it's bound to happen at some time or another. So let's talk about some reasons why disappointing readings can happen...
1. The information you're being given doesn't make sense now, but it will later.
I was told a family secret by a psychic once, and at the time I wasn't aware of this secret. So when she referenced this information I thought "wrong! so wrong!"
Then years later I learned about this secret and I IMMEDIATELY thought back to my reading with this woman. SHE knew! I didn't! So of course, it didn't make sense until it MADE SENSE.
2. Psychics, intuitives, and mediums are human.
I once stopped 10 minutes into a reading because I was so tired and confused. I was bombing it from the jump and wasn't able to recover.
I knew by looking at the cards what I WANTED to convey to my client, but I couldn't for the life of me get a coherent thought out of my head!
I learned a long time ago to stop and come back another day when I'm feeling tired or overwhelmed.
Readers have bad days too! The information they are receiving might be valuable and accurate, but we are only as good as our ability to interpret and relay those things to you.
3. You didn't hear what you wanted to hear.
Now don't get mad at me for this one, because I've been here myself!
I've rolled up to readings before, fully prepared to be told everything I wanted to hear. I was convinced I would receive the affirmation I needed from beyond, only to have the reader either A. call me out on my s**t and/or B. tell me about things I didn't really feel were that big of a deal at the time.
You get what you get sometimes!
4. The reader was simply incorrect. About most or all of it.
I have been on both the giving and the receiving end of readings like this.
It's embarrassing as a reader to be receiving information that isn't anywhere near accurate or affirming. But it happens to the best of us, and here's what makes a big difference during readings like this.
I never double down. If I'm asking my client if what I'm saying makes sense and it doesn't, we're starting over. I'm not going to insist I'm right. We're going to refocus, reshuffle, and try again. And maybe even reschedule!
5. You didn't need a reading.
I have a friend who is a "frequent flyer" when it comes to psychics, mediums, and the like. She consults these sources often. Sometimes TOO often! And every once in a while I will remind her to take a break to rely a bit more on her OWN feelings and intuition.
At some point we all must admit that the answers to all of our questions are truly within ourselves.
Having a reading should feel affirming, and supportive.
Seeking constant support through readings can be unhealthy and can actually turn people away from their own intuition and feelings.
Readings should empower you, not leave you confused!
