Happy Birthday to our dear friend Barbara!

Eighty-nine looks amazing on you! 💛🎉

One of the first things I noticed about Barbara is her unwavering self-discipline. She follows a healthy daily routine and sticks to it—always with a smile for everyone she meets. She’s a dedicated participant in our morning exercise program, takes time each day to read her Bible, and goes for her walks—both indoors and out—whenever the weather is pleasant. Barbara also enjoys our music programs and never misses a chance to thank the performers after each show. And when it’s Bingo time, she’s often the first to arrive—ready to play and have good time!

Whenever we receive donations of buckets filled with beautiful flowers, my first stop is always Barbara. She has a true talent for arranging them, and she loves working with fresh blooms. Her floral arranging classes are clearly paying off, and thanks to her, our home is often full of vibrant colors and fresh beauty. 💐

While Barbara enjoys our activities, we know that the highlight of her week is spending Sundays with her son Jerry and daughter-in-law Robin. Every Sunday, they pick her up and take her to Providence Church, where Jerry serves as the pastor. “It’s way out in the country,” Barbara says with a smile. After the service, the family enjoys Sunday dinner together. What a perfect way to spend the day! Barbara’s tradition is to use her Bingo earnings at our Raven’s Gems store to select something sweet as a thank-you gift for Jerry and Robin.

Our Ravenwood family celebrated Barbara with a special strawberry cake from Supreme Bakery, beautifully decorated just for her. 🎂 She was delighted, and so appreciative! The cards and calls wishing her a happy birthday kept coming throughout the day. But wait…there’s more to this story! Stay tuned for the REST! 🌟💫

Big hats off to our legendary grillmaster Jody Andrews, who truly set the night ablaze and cooked up a smokin’ good time for everyone. 🔥🍖 The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, the hot dogs were snappin’, and Carson’s music kept those boots tappin’ all night long! 🎶✨

We’re so glad so many of y’all were able to lasso your family and friends and join the fun. Whether you came for the good eatin’ or just came to kick up some dust, you helped turn this roundup into a real-deal rodeo of memories. Without y’all, there wouldn’t have been a party—just a bunch of empty boots! 🤠💃

And of course, a special thanks to all our good ol’ ranch hands behind the scenes. From setup to cleanup, y’all nailed it. 💪 Teamwork made this dream work, no doubt about it!

At the arbors we had a fall party for our residents!!.

Carson Davis—a true master of his craft—takes us on a musical journey through the heart of country music with his incredible versatility. At our Western BBQ Family Roundup, he captivated the crowd with his soulful rendition of the timeless classic “Gentle on My Mind,” originally made famous by Glen Campbell in 1968.

Carson’s ability to seamlessly blend genres shines as he weaves together heartfelt lyrics and skillful guitar playing. As his voice carries us down the backroads and along the riversides, we’re reminded of the memories that tie us all together, making this performance one to cherish.

🎉 Yeehaw! Last night, our Western BBQ Family Roundup was a rodeo of good times! 🤠🔥 We fired up the grill, served up some delicious brisket, and had hot dogs sizzling while the music played on. 🎶🎸From laughter to full bellies, there was a whole lot of yee-hawing going on! 🙌

Activity: Sunday Worship Service

Story: For over 20 years, our faithful friends from Briar Street Baptist Church have joyfully gathered every Sunday to hold a worship service for us—a truly remarkable commitment! There are no words sufficient to express how dear these friends are to us, or how deeply we appreciate each one of them. We always look forward to our time together, and, without a doubt, you, Briar Street friends, and your service are a highlight in our week!

We owe a special debt of gratitude to Jewell for introducing us to Briar Street Baptist Church. Long before moving to Ravenwood in December of 2020, Jewell was one of the dedicated members of the group who faithfully came to teach the Bible. And because of Briar Street, we have been blessed with the gift of Jewell as a cherished part of our Ravenwood family!

Jewell’s granddaughter Michelle, along with her husband Shawn and their three sons—Zack, Brett (and his girlfriend Hannah), and Joe—often bring McDonald’s for lunch when they visit after church on Sundays. These three boys, Jewell’s beloved “great” great-grandsons, fill her heart with joy. Michelle, whom Jewell fondly and aptly calls “her person,” always knows exactly what her grandma will enjoy. And more often than not, that’s a simple lunch with family—McDonald’s included—even on her birthday.

“I don’t want a cake,” Jewell insisted, but the mention of a new, cozy pair of pajamas brought a wide, delighted grin to her face.

No frills, no fuss—just a plain hamburger, fries, and a Diet Dr. Pepper. But on this, her 96th birthday, that modest meal was followed by a cheerful ice cream social for the entire Ravenwood family and friends. After all, who doesn’t love ice cream—especially when there's a choice between chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry? 🍨🍧 We were all honored to celebrate this special day with Jewell. Everyone wanted to be there for her. She’s the sweetest soul, a true friend to all, and, if you’ve met her, you know she lives up to her name—she’s a real “Jewell.”

“When I think of Jewell,” says Mary Kay, “I always remember the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:11: ‘…I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.’ Jewell is a beautiful picture of contentment. She takes life in stride and goes with the flow. She’s patient, kind, calm, and shows the love of Christ in all she says and does. She embodies true humility. I’ve never met anyone more faithful.”

Jewell never misses an activity at Ravenwood. In fact, no one can recall her skipping even one event! She’s always ready and eager to join in—unless, of course, it involves eating fish or chocolate. Her smile, laughter, and quick wit keep all of us smiling too. We never know what clever remark or heartwarming story she’ll share next.

Jewell, we pray for God’s continued blessings in your life. Thank you for being such a light and joy to all of us. It’s hard to imagine Ravenwood without you. We couldn’t possibly love you more. You've made this community a better place just by being here—and we are all better for knowing you.
