Activity: Baking a Hummingbird Cake

Story: This week we made a Hummingbird Cake. We are fortunate to have Alice living at Spring Ridge. She was a Family and Consumer Science Teacher, a.k.a. Homec Teacher. She shared many helpful tips to baking. The cake was delicious but dificult to describe. How do you describe a Hummingbird Cake? Is it a pineapple cake, banana cake, yellow cake?

Rachel and Richard from Good Shepherd Hospice brought the outdoor games inside. Our residents loved bocce ball. Coach Benny and Sheree had a great aim!

Activity: Bible Devotion with Chaplain Craig from St. Croix Hospice

Story: We appreciate Rev. Craig. He spends time with our residents twice a month. Today he talked about God. God is real. The gift of God’s presence and all the creatures that God gave us to make our lives better.

Good news! We have our hummingbird feeder up and we will be watching closely.

Millions of hummingbirds are beginning their southward migration in the coming weeks, fueling up on food, nectar and insects to power their journey across the Gulf. Avid hummingbird watchers should get their feeders out now to maximize the chance to see these tiny travelers as they make their way.
