Yesterday, The Bungalows at Branson Meadows and The Bungalows at Springfield East banded together to walk in the End Alzheimer’s Walk in Springfield. We had a Phoenix Senior Living booth to share information with those in attendance. It was a beautiful day full of laughter and memories.

At our building, we are still raising money for the Alzheimer’s association! Our management pie in the face ends this week! Bring your coins so the residents can pie three of our management team!

Yesterday we took the residents to the Strafford Wild Animal Safari. The staff there were WONDERFUL and accommodating. Not pictured is Bonnie, Ginger and Ms. Bert. We had such fun feeding the animals and we even got to see their 2 Month old baby giraffe!!

Happy day 5 of national assisted living week we traveled to Italy! We started out playing Bocce Ball (an Italian game), we talked about missionaries from Italy, played bingo then tried different kinds of pasta and tried some cannoli dip! A big shout out to Alex from Haven for the Italian lunch for the staff today and thank you Olive Garden for the bread stick donation!

Day 3 and 4 we traveled to Mexico and France! Thank you Centerwell Home Health for tacos yesterday and Johnny Rooster for Pizza today for the staff! For Mexico, we danced to Mariachi music, mock tails, bingo and a movie about Mayan ruins. Today we traveled to France, exercised with Typaldos, watched the comedian Johnny Rooster and tried French cookies.

Day 2 of National Assisted Living Week: we traveled to Japan! For lunch a few residents joined our POD, Sara, at Hinode then a quick Dollar Tree trip. The residents challenged Sara to catch a shrimp thrown to her by the chef. (No video to prove it did happen but the shrimp did taste good.)

Once returned, the residents made flower arrangements, tried Japanese cream wafers, and made origami fortunes.

We were Humbled at the 1/4 size replica of the HUBBLE telescope. We learned that the telescope will be returning to earth around 2030/40. Named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble, the telescope captures high-resolution photos of Galaxies far, far away. After a talk with Mr. Stan from the Marshfield city hall we had lunch at Grillos Cafe.

For our Monday Mixer, in honor of Labor Day, we celebrated with chocolate!! We tried 6 different kinds of chocolate and guessed what was in the chocolate. We had peanut butter, cookie, white, cherry almond, toffee and dark chocolate. What a fun reminder to always expect the unexpected.

Thank you Rita’s Frozen Custard for donating tasty treats for our end of summer bash today! Residents got to show their skills with a hoola hoop and even our mascot Finn got in the hoola groove. All in all we are going to miss summer but we are going to soak up the wonderful weather we are having.
