Another patient win, thanks to TriHealth Heart & Vascular Institute physicians Najamul Ansari MD and Gaurang Gandhi MD!

When TriHealth patient Chris Hopkins found a spot on his leg that wouldn't go away, his dermatologist told him it was either a blood vessel issue or cancer. When his biopsy came back cancer-free, Chris was then diagnosed with AFib.

Nearly 500 clinicians joined an early June livestream of an IJ MICRA™ pacemaker implant at Bethesda North Hospital, the FIRST IN THE AREA to perform this procedure. TriHealth Electrophysiologists Dilesh Patel MD and Gaurang Gandhi MD, assisted by Hemal Shah MD and Muhammad Athar MD, implanted the tiny, leadless pacemaker into the heart through the jugular vein instead of the traditional groin access, reducing the risk of vascular complications and benefitting patients. Also during the same Current CRM conference, Marshall Winner MD presented and Emile Daoud MD participated in a debate with international faculty.

Congratulations to TriHealth’s Echo and Vascular labs for receiving 3-year re-accreditation with the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). In addition, they were recognized for long-term commitment to patient quality and service: Bethesda North Hospital Echo & Vascular – 25 years of IAC accreditation; Good Samaritan Hospital Vascular - 30 years; Good Samaritan Hospital Echo - 20 years. An amazing accomplishment for these labs!

It was a banner year for the TriHealth team, with nearly 900 registered and more than $60,000 raised. TriHealth is getting it done - on the job and in the community!

Delayed Start: AHA Heart Mini: Due to the weather, the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Heart Half and 15K Heart Mini will have an hour delayed start of 8:30 AM. The Half Marathon cutoff at the 6th St. ramp will be extended to 10 AM. Any Half runner who reaches the 6th Street ramp after 10 AM, will finish on the 15K course.

UC Health Steps for Stroke will remain at 10 AM.

All other events will be pushed back by 30 minutes.

TriHealth’s Structural Heart team successfully performed their first procedures this week using the Abbott TriClip™ transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) system.
