Carmen C. Bracero-Hicks, 71, of Aurora, passed away December 25, 2025 at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. She was born March 30, 1954 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; daughter of Bernardo Bracero and Aurelia Montanez. Carmen was an Attendance Secretary at Waldo Middle School; retiring after 20 plus years of dedicated service for East Aurora School District 131. She was a proud and long time member of the Aurora Puerto Rican Cultural Committee. She was also a very proud Boricua who loved to dance salsa and you would often find her singing along to Marc Anthony. Carmen enjoyed cooking for her family and sharing a warm cup of coffee; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She is survived by her four daughters; Sherry (Westley) Ramos, Noelia Morales, Carmen (Jarrad) Miller and Lynnette (Zacchur) Montañez – Porter. She was a loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren; Juliana, Saul, Idalis, Janessa, Vanessa, Anthony, Faith, Ethan, Vincent, Bobby, Jiselle, Jarrad Jr., Savannah and Jaberly. Carmen cherished time with her seven great grandchildren; Nathaniel, Aviana, Cristian, Mariana, Angel, Alino and Araciel. She has four brothers; Fred (Maria) Bracero, Antonio Bracero, Bernardo (Marilee) Bracero, and Cesar Bracero and 2 sisters; Nelly Bracero and Ana Bracero; along with many other nieces, nephews and other relatives. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents.

Family will be receiving guests Friday, January 2, 2026 from 4 to 7pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway in Montgomery. Funeral service will be held Saturday January 3, 2026 at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora.
