Happy Birthday U.S. Air Force! We are honored to serve families stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base through our pediatric and adult programs. Having had many Air Force Veterans and "brats" (the term affectionately used for children of Air Force soldiers) work at Easterseals, we are grateful to serve those who "Aim High".

Mia is 16 and has been riding with Kid One Transport since February. She relies on us weekly because her family does not have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. With Kid One, Mia can reach Children’s South, Lakeshore Foundation, and many other providers. She receives treatment from occupational, physical, and speech therapists, along with her neurologist, neurosurgeon, pulmonologist, and complex care team—sometimes visiting multiple specialists in a single week.

Mia’s journey started after she sustained a traumatic brain injury as an innocent bystander in a drive-by shooting. Her mother, Mariesha, shares:
“Services are greatly needed. Kid One helps Mia access the care she needs. We don’t have other options to get her places because wheelchair accessible vehicles are so expensive.”
