Earlier this week, Lingohocken Fire Company put their vehicle extrication skills to the test using Holmatro CORE tools and Junkyard Dog Industries - a division of ESI Equipment Rescue Struts. Crews worked through a live scenario involving one trapped patient, where they flapped the roof open and removed the windshield. Training also included vehicle stabilization, glass, door, and roof removal, as well as various techniques for steering column and dash displacement.

Yesterday, members of the Oakland Vol. Fire Co. participated in a vehicle rescue and extrication refresher class. Crews first reviewed their current techniques, then leveled up by learning new methods for passenger vehicle extrication and stabilization. A wide range of tools were put to work during the training, including Junkyard Dog Industries - a division of ESI Equipment Rescue Struts for stabilization and Holmatro tools for extrication. Friday afternoon, Garden Spot Fire Rescue (GSFR39) responded to a two-vehicle crash in which one vehicle was overturned. Upon arrival, crews found two patients trapped. The vehicle was quickly stabilized using Junkyard Dog Industries - a division of ESI Equipment Rescue Struts, and Holmatro CORE tools were immediately put to work for a roof removal. Both patients were safely extricated and turned over to EMS for further care.

Around 2:30pm on Friday afternoon, units from GSFR and Co. 31 (Bareville) along with EMS 37 were dispatched to the area of Shirk Rd & Peter’s Rd for a 2 vehicle crash with 1 vehicle overturned.

Units arrived and found 2 subjects still in the overturned vehicle and the incident was upgraded to entrapment. Crews from 39 & 31 worked on stabilization and performed a roof removal while EMS worked on patient care.

All units cleared the scene within the hour.
