Day 2 of High Risk Training. Today all 3 operations of Lifeguard Southern Mississippi (Lamar, Lawrence, GP Medical operations) came together for day 2 of our first quarterly High Risk/Low Frequency Training. We covered protocols, medications, advanced adult and pediatric airway, emergency cricothyrotomy, needle decompression, Intraosseous needle palcement, challenging cardiac arrest, bleeding control, fracture management, and quality assurance.

This is a huge commitment to the communities that we serve, the patients we care for, and our employees.

A huge thank you to our partner Lamar County for the use of the shelter.

Balance – Sudden loss of balance or coordination
Eyes – Blurred or double vision
Face – One side droops

Time – Call 911 immediately

This week we joined the Lawrence Community Hospital hosted health fair. We had a strong turnout, and provided essential information. This collaboration demonstrates Lawrence Hospital and Lifeguard Lawrence County's commitment to serving our community.

We mourn with our family out west.

Our REACH family is devastated to share that Susan “Suzie” Smith has passed away from injuries sustained during the accident involving helicopter N414RX on Highway 50 on Monday night.

We will remember Suzie as a pillar of the EMS and healthcare community who saved countless lives by delivering compassionate care in their darkest hours. Suzie’s 50-year career as a nurse included nearly 21 years with REACH, and we are proud to call her our colleague and friend. We hope she is remembered for the light she brought to every call, every shift, and every patient she blessed with her care.

We grieve Suzie’s loss with her family, friends, colleagues and the entire community that she faithfully served. Her impact will be felt for years to come through the lives she touched, the teams she strengthened, and the compassion she embodied. Thank you for keeping Suzie’s loved ones and our REACH family in your thoughts and support for our team during this difficult time.

Yesterday, our leadership team participated in the dedication of the Mississippi EMS Memorial, accompanied by GMR leadership from across the state and Governor Tate Reeves, to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty while serving the citizens of Mississippi. The memorial is positioned at the Mississippi Department of Health.
