On Tuesday mornings, the gentlemen enjoy coffee and special visits from community guests. This past Tuesday, Principal Courson brought students from Monticello High School for conversation between generations. The students asked great questions while the men gave some good advice. Staying connected is so important. If you would be interested in coming one morning to share your story, we are always looking for men to join us. September is Hunger Action Month sponsored by Feeding America. To help fight hunger at a local level, our residents are holding a food drive to support food pantries in our community. We are collecting non-perishable items through September 26th. If you would like to donate items, may be dropped off at our activity department.

Our weekly Tuesday Men's Coffee Club enjoyed a few hot rods and classics this morning. A HUGE shout out to the Sundowners Car Club and local gentleman who showed up and made it happen! We are celebrating the Fabulous 50s all week, and this tied into our theme perfectly! Community connections are so important. Again, thank you to everyone involved.

PCNH residents took a trip down memory lane this week with a virtual tour of the Illinois State Fair, residents and staff then enjoyed tasting fair foods, like mini donuts, fried pickles, mini corn dogs, and funnel cake fries! A very yummy treat. Other activities included live music by Easy Pickens, men's coffee club, worship service, and of course bingo! To end our week, we celebrated Woodstock, which was held this weekend back in 1969. We always love when staff participate in the fun. It was a good week!

Volunteer Spotlight

Bringing back a weekly Bible study was important to our residents. Last summer, Andrea Bailey agreed to volunteer while she was on summer break from teaching and start up an 8-week study. Andrea, along with a group of wonderful ladies from the community, has kept it going since! Today was the end of Andrea's second summer as she will return to the classroom next week. Volunteers are such an important part of our daily activity programming.
