Sold! - 2042 Wahalaw Nene, Tallahassee. This one was a doooooozy. I listed the property late last year and we went under contract in March of this year. The process went smoothly but on May 10th, when we were 13 days from closing, the tornadoes ripped through Tallahassee and dropped a mature spruce pine right on the house. It smashed the roof and much of the brick facade, almost reaching the flooring of the home. Both the buyer and seller were devastated and disappointed, but the buyer opted to hang in there while the house was repaired, and we made it to closing a week ago.

I first met the sellers, Jerry and Joyce, in 2016. I showed them countless properties in Hamilton, Madison, Jefferson, Wakulla, and Franklin counties in search of a second home they could escape to during the winter months. They have a beautiful home in rural Pennsylvania on a trout stream but at the time they did not want to endure the snow and ice anymore.
In late 2017 a singlewide in Lloyd on 1.5 acres came on the market. I sent the listing to them and within a day or two they were under contract. They resided there from November to April every year and they always stayed in close contact. They witnessed and celebrated all of the important milestones in my life since then - my marriage to Alex, and the birth of both Sonny and Rocco.
In the spring of this year they reached out to me and said that the drive back and forth between PA and FL had become too much for them, and they wanted to sell. During their ownership they made many improvements to the property including renovations to the kitchen and bathroom, the installation of an RV hookup as well as an awesome three-bay workshop, and they kept everything immaculately maintained. We listed in mid-April, and within a weekend we had 5 offers on the table. We closed earlier this week and the property is now owned by a couple from Tallahassee and they are delighted to be out of the city.
In real estate one gets to meet all sorts of interesting people and sometimes a friendship is made and endures. Jerry and Joyce were one of just a handful. I appreciate their kindness and trust in me, and while it would be nice if they stayed around I know they have a little piece of paradise to go to.
