It’s been a busy week for the Threshold midwives! 5 births in 7 days; 5 mamas who worked extra hard and extra long to meet their little ones. This is Bryson Jayce, small and mighty, who let us see exactly how powerful his mama is. Congratulations Amber! ✨♥️

In two days! Last chance to sign up and attend this class live with our very own Midwife Tessa.

Thursday 6-8pm, on zoom, link in bio.

For most people birthing in the US today, the postpartum period is the most overlooked and under-supported period of the childbearing cycle. This class will cover herbal and supportive strategies for recovering from birth and the postpartum transition, including breast/chest feeding support, blood building, perineal and pelvic floor healing. We will also cover mood, spirit and energetic care in the post-partum year, as well as strategies for taking herbs in the sleep-deprived postpartum period. Participants can expect to leave with a deeper familiarity with which herbs are contraindicated in lactation and why they should be avoided, and which herbs to consider recommending during the postpartum period and beyond.

Sign up for class bundle and get recordings of Herbal Support for Pregnancy and Labor and Birth as well. ✨

In honor of National Day of the Midwife here is a little love fest for 1/2 of the Threshold team. Emmy is a calm, grounded, loving force who is always reminding our clients and community about the innate capacity of the body. She fiercely and gently reminds us all to find and protect our power, always with a wise smile on her face. I (Tessa) am profoundly lucky to find myself on her team, as midwife, friend, family. (Swipe to see a pic of her in action as mom-midwife.)

Sign up today! First class on Thursday!

Upcoming classes with our very own Tessa, hosted by .clinical.herbalism, on Herbs for the Childbearing Cycle.

Herbal Support for Pregnancy: Thursday, March 30, 6 -8 pm ET, recording available.

Grounded in the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy from conception to the onset of labor, we will discuss appropriate herbal support for each trimester of pregnancy. We will focus on common pregnancy symptoms and complaints (nausea, heartburn, leg cramps, muscle aches) as well as herbal and nutritional strategies to support physical and emotional balance in the growing of a baby and in the journey toward birth and postpartum. We will also discuss herbal, nutrition and lifestyle strategies for ease and prevention of pregnancy complications. Participants can expect to leave with a deeper familiarity with herbs to consider recommending during pregnancy and when to use them—and a greater understanding of which herbs are contraindicated in pregnancy, and why they should be avoided.

Herbal Support for Labor and Birth: Thursday, April 27th 6-8pm EST

Herbal Support for Postpartum Care: Thursday, May 25th 6-8pm EST

Designed specifically for birth attendants, doulas, midwives, care providers, and herbalists looking to support folks in childbearing cycles, but all levels of knowledge and curiosity are welcome. These classes will be taught with a trauma-informed lens and with a commitment to bodily and collective autonomy; all genders and all bodies are welcome and celebrated. Participants are encouraged to register for all three courses together; class content is interrelated and will build through the series, and you’ll also receive the series discount! Individual session registration is also available, and recordings will be made available for all classes.

Prenatal visits with threshold midwives last at least an hour. We talk about any concerns, questions, celebrations our clients have, provide education, have informed choice conversations about all pregnancy, birth and newborn options, take vitals, draw labs if needed, and then do the fun part! Measuring bellies and listening to the baby’s heart rate. It never gets old. And sometimes we even have our own babies around to assist us!

Labor and birth requires us to go into our depths and cross over thresholds we sometimes didn’t even know we could. And emerge changed. We never know what it will look like or feel like, but (as midwives) we know it happens each and every time. Sometimes it takes people to hold us up on all sides.
