Are you in shock?
I woke up this morning and forced myself to do my daily meditation before checking the election results. And I’m glad I did because I needed to hear the news that Donald Trump is our presumptive president-elect from that grounded place.
If you, like me, wanted to call in sick today, curl up and cry with a bowl of halloween candy, I get it.
It’s easy to get stuck vacillating between denial, panic, sadness, and anger. But then I thought you all are probably feeling the same. And if I can show up and help you through it in some small way, that’s worth the effort.
When our survival brain kicks in, and we go into fight-flight-freeze-or fawn mode we sometimes forget there is actually a 5th option researchers have recently started writing about: Attend & Befriend.
This response is when we share our big feelings and lean on each other. And I’ve seen it so many times in my community in Vermont, where we step up to help our neighbors and loved ones in times of great stress. Keep it up my loves.
So take some time today to take care of yourself: Cry, drink some chamomile or tulsi tea, take a walk, sit in nature, get a massage or acupuncture.
It’s OK to pause when something big happens. Because we need you grounded, and big hearted for whatever is coming next.
Acupuncture is a fantastic way to lower your stress, relieve pain associated with big emotions, and improve your sleep. I have some openings tomorrow and next week if you want help sooner.
May this too serve our collective awakening.
May this too serve our collective healing.
May all beings know love & safety.
