Patricia Anne Brooks, age 46, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tricia faced her illness with remarkable strength, courage, and grace.
After a fierce five-year battle with cancer, she finally found rest and is now with her loved ones who have gone before her. Tricia never allowed cancer to define who she was or dim the love she gave to those around her.
Tricia was born on January 8, 1979, in West Valley City, Utah. She was the daughter of Craig W. Prows and Penny Lynn Prows. She spent her early childhood living in Magna, Utah and her teen years living in Kanosh, Utah. Tricia loved to spend her time with her brother Travis and together they created memories filled with laughter, support, and an unbreakable sibling bond.
She also held very fond memories of traveling around the state to attend and compete in rodeos with her dad. She spent countless hours on horseback. In high school Tricia proudly served as the Millard County Rodeo Queen. She also competed in Miss Rodeo Utah and was awarded Miss Congeniality--a title that perfectly reflects her personality.
Tricia married the love of her life, Jason Brooks, in Fillmore, Utah, on February 14, 2004. Together Jason and Tricia created a beautiful life in Cokeville, Wyoming full of love, laughter, and fulfillment. Jason was her rock, her soulmate, her everything! He was the steady presence who walked beside her through life’s greatest joys and hardest battles.
Tricia deeply loved the people and close-knit community of Cokeville.
She had a lifelong love of learning, earning her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate in elementary education.
She will be remembered for her love of children, growth, and education. She was a teacher through and through, impacting the lives of many students during her years as an Educator.
Family meant everything to Tricia. She and Jason were married 21 years, and they are the proud parents of Cole (17), Sara (14), and Jace (14). She moved heaven and earth for her children, loving them fiercely and
without condition. Being their mom was her proudest role. She poured her whole heart into raising them. She especially loved cheering them on at basketball, rodeos, and preparing for and competing with their animals at the county fair. Tricia’s love was constant and unwavering, and her children always knew they were deeply cherished. She worked tirelessly to protect them, guide them, and help them become the people they are meant to be.
In her free time, she loved being in the mountains—riding horses, skiing, and camping. Packing into the backcountry was one of her favorite ways to spend time. She also found great happiness in being
with her family and friends, treasuring every moment spent together.
Tricia is survived by her husband Jason Brooks and their three children Cole, Sara and Jace Brooks, Mother Penny Lynn Poulsen and brother Travis Chad Prows (Jen Prows) who will carry forward her love, lessons, and memories.
Tricia is preceded in death by her father Craig W. Prows who she is now peacefully reunited with.
