♌︎ using warm body oil, give yourself a full-body rub down, marveling at this beautiful, strong, vibrant body of yours 💛 bonus points if you do a dry-brush or garshana beforehand. Best practice to follow-up your massage with a shower or hot steam.

♌︎ dig out that skincare routine and all the fixins ::: masks, serums, oils, balms, everything is on the menu. Just make sure you layer everything properly after cleansing + toning (water-based serums, then oils, then moisturizers + creams).

In the Ayurvedic tradition, the first 40 days after delivery is considered the Sacred Window. During this time, mother is resting + slowly rebuilding her Ojas, or vitality; baby is as fresh as fresh could be, vulnerable and vocal; mother + baby together are exploring this new relationship, a union that previously had no barriers and now, for the first time, distinguishes the pair as separate yet deeply intertwined bodies + souls.

Overwhelming and empowering, terrifying and beautiful, subtle and the deepest well of love ever known.

Honoring the Sacred Window is crucial. What transpires during this phase imprints on mother and baby, together and separately, for years if not lifetimes to come. When mother’s nervous system and well being are prioritized, baby’s needs are also tended to. A calm, content, secure experience for mother is imprinted on baby through the energy that transmutes during their daily, nearly constant interactions.
