I've been transforming my relationship to relationship, breaking open to make space for more love.
Im also breaking open my palate, restoring my mouth to what it was like when I was a child, and then eventually bringing it back together with more spaciousness, with more room for love, joy, and self expression.
These are the painful and blissful experiences that remind me that I am alive, here, now.
Sending love 🤍

I have been brewing a morning kitchen ritual to support the transition into autumn.
I begin with astragalus root for vitality and immune strength. Turmeric root adds its vibrant hue and anti-inflammatory curcumin. Elderberries fortify the immune system, and schizandra berries offer balance and liver health. Ginseng provides sustained energy.
As the ingredients simmer, their essences blend. Astragalus releases immune-modulating polysaccharides, turmeric soothes inflammation, and berries combat oxidative stress.
After 10 minutes of meditation, I pour this decoction into a mug sweetened with honey. I sip and am reminded of nature's renewal and balance.

Late Summer, Golden Light, Shifting to Presence: it's time to slowly move away from the bright, outward pulse of high summer and toward a slower rhythm.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, late summer belongs to the Earth element, which governs digestion, stability, and the feeling of being rooted. It is the season of harvest, of abundance brought to the table, of meals that steady rather than stimulate.
To nourish the Earth element, eat more soups, gently roasted vegetables, and grains simmered until tender are easy to digest and offer a sense of warmth in the body. Shift your evening meal to an earlier time to support the body’s circadian rhythm and deepens the repair processes of the night..
By slowing the pace, we give the belly and the heart the same message: you are safe, you are nourished, you are home.

Lammas, Lughnassah, Loaf Mass, First Harvest, this pivot from Fire season of high summer to Earth season of late summer is meaningful in this moment when pause and reflection are so needed.
As the earth gives so much abundance, they die.
As the richness of life sustains us, loss and grief surround us.
How can nourishment be an offering?
We are nothing without each other. All that dies shall be reborn.

What is Third Tone?
We craft acoustic sound journeys to help you focus, relax, sleep, and heal.
Crafted with care. Backed by neuroscience.
How it works:

How to listen:
Use headphones for the full effect.
Lie down, sit still, or move gently—your way is the right way.
Set a timer or let the sounds unfold naturally.

Everything we have created supports your inner rhythms and how you relate to the world around you.

What is somatic nutrition? Why is this my approach?
Somatic nutrition is a holistic approach to nutrition that considers not only the physical aspects of food and eating but also the psychological, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of nourishment. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit in relation to food and eating habits.
Somatic nutrition recognizes that our relationship with food is influenced by various factors such as our emotions, beliefs, cultural background, and personal experiences. It aims to promote overall well-being by fostering a balanced and mindful approach to eating, which includes paying attention to hunger and fullness cues, enjoying food without guilt or judgment, and cultivating a positive relationship with the body.

Summer is Fire Season in Chinese Medicine. We can understand summer and support out bodies by cooling down, hydrating, and breathing.
Cooling Down: Heat exhaustion occurs when the body overheats due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Symptoms include excessive sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and headaches. This is your body’s way of signaling that it needs cooling and hydration.
Hydrating: With the summer heat, our bodies lose more water through sweat. Dehydration can manifest as dry mouth, fatigue, dark urine, and dizziness. It is crucial to recognize these signs and ensure adequate fluid intake to maintain optimal hydration levels.
Breathing: Summer allergies, often triggered by pollen, mold, and dust mites, can lead to symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and congestion. These symptoms indicate that your body is reacting to allergens in the environment, and it needs support to alleviate the discomfort.
Cool down, hydrate, and breathe. Reach out for support. I am here.

What a gift to have strawberries from the garden. This is the season ice cream and sometimes we do eat it.
More often though, we have fresh berries with unsweetened yogurt and cinnamon.
It's a satisfying snack and provides a nice balance of fat, protein, vitamin C from the strawberries, and blood glucose regulating cinnamon.
Yogurt cools summer heat as wel. You can use cow yogurt or sub coconut yogurt if you prefer a plant based version that is cooling and soothing to the nervous system.
Maybe I'll enjoy the gifts of the summer season.
