Residents at The Gary Residence enjoyed a sweet summer outing to the Dairy Cream! We indulged in Vermont's favorite treat, creamees! We had lots of laughs along the way, as one of us accidentally ordered a large... and let's just say it did not disappoint! A big thank you to the Dairy Cream crew for the warm welcome and delicious treats!

We had another beautiful visit with No Strings Marionette Company yesterday here at Clara's Garden at The Gary Residence. Barbara and Dan provided live sing-a-long music, hand instruments, and the sweetest friends to dance with and engage with. We’re already planning an upcoming holiday visit with them!

We celebrated the 4th of July at The Gary Residence with hamburgers, hotdogs, and all the traditional sides, we circled up and sang our favorite patriotic songs, and we even got outside to watch the parade before the thunderstorms called it off! Wishing everyone a belated happy 4th and a great summer!

Our very own Residential Care Activities Coordinator, Kate, shared her talent and expertise by offering a beginner-friendly watercolor class designed especially for our residents. No experience was needed, just a willingness to have fun, try something new, and maybe get a little paint on your hands!

We took a magical dive under the sea! Our Residential Care Dining Room was transformed into an oceanic dreamscape, complete with swaying jellyfish, gold fish and a message in a bottle. Residents enjoyed delicious lobster rolls and great company as we dined beneath the waves. It was a splashing good time!

We dressed up our patio with vibrant flowers in Clara’s Garden! Our gardening club will keep an eye on watering and fostering new flower growth – a tactile and collaborative activity. We’re all very grateful to have the knowledge and skills ‘in-house’ to create such a lovely outdoor space. Thanks, Gardening Club!

Artists Karen and Kylie visited our memory care neighborhood this week and provided a fun floral, Q-Tip painting project! Each painting has its own expressive quality – and you can see the sense of purpose and delight in these photos. We have resident art work on display to celebrate creativity!

Since 1989, Montpelier has joyfully celebrated All Species Day, an annual event typically held on the first Sunday in May. The festivities began at noon in Hubbard Park with a ceremonial calling of the creatures from the four directions, honoring the arrival of spring through song, dance, and vibrant puppet pageantry. Participants of all ages came dressed as their favorite species and took part in this unique tribute to the interconnectedness of all life and the beauty of the Earth’s renewal.
Here at The Gary Residence, we gathered on the front porch to enjoy the parade as it passed right by our doorstep. We showed our support by wearing animal masks and cheering on the parade! We had a blast waving to all the Montpelier kids dressed up as their favorite animals.

Established in 1941, The Gary Residence is a senior living community like no other. We are a residential care community that includes 13 private suites in an historic downtown home in Montpelier, Vermont. At The Gary Residence, we strive to preserve the values of a private home with the greatest possible amount of freedom and individual choice. We blend a healthy balance of independence with the right amount of support, with plenty of privacy and just the right mix of activities and amenities. Residents remain as active as they want to be while enjoying the comforts of our natural home setting. As a licensed residential care home, we provide room, board, personal care, general supervision, nursing oversight and medical management, but not full-time nursing care. Our residents enjoy their own suites with private bath, elegant common areas, an engaging staff, and a lively activity calendar.
