Time to include acupuncture into more of our health insurance plans, Vermont.

For years, acupuncture has been accepted as a holistic therapy to help in addiction treatment. According to recent writings, acupuncture may not treat addiction, but it can offer reprieve in the midst of the opioid epidemic.

At recent Governors conference in Boston, New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan said "patients need more non-medical options, like acupuncture or physical therapy, for treating pain", hope you were listening Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, we need access via insurance coverage to acupuncture.

An Emergency room in MN is using acupuncture to treat acute pain, hope we can make that happen in VT someday!

Update: Our legislative action to include acupuncture in all Vermonter's health insurance has made progress! Acupuncturists have been included into the language for S.243, the senate's op**te bill, to study the use of acupuncture for pain management and op**te addiction. Next step- House of Representatives Health Care Committee.

A great day in the state house yesterday with Vermont Acupuncture Association, speaking with legislators about our bill, H-573 which will increase access to acupuncture for Vermonters by requiring insurance policies to include it. Pleas call your reps and let them know you support H573- The Acupuncture Bill!

We hosted our first fundraiser for People For Acupuncture, a Chinese New Year Dinner. It was a great success and lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who came out, including Kesha Ram candidate for Lieutenant Governor who spoke about the relief acupuncture has brought to her.
