Meet Willis!

Willis is one of our furry friends from Morning Star Therapy Dogs and has been volunteering with us for nearly a year. Since 2003, Morning Star Therapy Dogs has been proudly serving our community.

Montrose Regional Health (MRH) has completed construction on the playground at River Landing, an inclusive, all-access space designed to provide safe, engaging play opportunities for children of all ages and ability levels.

The playground was developed in response to a lack of truly accessible play equipment in the Montrose area and is located adjacent to Montrose Regional Health’s Ambulatory Care Center at 3330 S. Rio Grande Ave. The thoughtfully designed space allows toddlers through older children to play together in a safe, welcoming environment.

Nearly half of U.S. adults ages 65 and older have prediabetes, a condition that often leads to type 2 diabetes without lifestyle changes such as weight loss and regular physical activity. Prediabetes also increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

For Montrose residents ages 65 and older who have been diagnosed with prediabetes, the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program offered by Montrose Regional Health (MRH) provides a proven, no-cost way to lower that risk. The program is free for individuals enrolled in Medicare Part B. Patients who wish to enroll will need a referral form from their primary care provider. Individuals not enrolled in Medicare Part B may also enroll, with a self-pay option available.

February safety reminder

Car seat safety matters every ride, every time. Here are a few important tips to help protect your child:

• Keep your child in a rear-facing car seat until they reach the maximum height or weight limit listed on the seat.
• Avoid bulky winter coats in car seats, as they can affect proper fit and function.
• Replace any car seat involved in an accident.
• Children under 13 should always ride in the back seat.

A properly installed and fitted car seat can save a life. Take a moment to double-check yours today.
