Ivy Sports Medicine is a private orthopedic device company that develops, manufactures and markets innovative tissue growth and repair products. Ivy Sports Medicine’s strategy is to provide sports medicine surgeons with a suite of products aimed at providing total clinical solutions to specific anatomical areas. ISM’s first two products, the Collagen Meniscus Implant (CMI®) and SharpShooter® Tissue Repair System, are focused on the treatment of meniscus injury. ISM’s first commercial product, the CMI®, is a biological and absorbable implant made from highly purified collagen with a porous structure. It is arthroscopically attached to fill the void resulting from damaged and lost meniscal tissue and makes use of the body's own healing ability. The porous implant matrix initially serves as a guide for the migration of the body's own cells and is absorbed afterwards. More than 16 years of clinical experience has proven that this is an established procedure for meniscus treatment. A defect filled with tissue potentially reduces the risk of arthrosis and produces outstanding clinical results, thus improving patients' quality of life and physical resilience. Our other product offering, The SharpShooter® Tissue Repair System is a simple, easy-to-use method for repairing the meniscus via the inside-out suture technique. The system includes a unique method to deliver 2-0 polyester braided sutures using a patented delivery handle and two anatomic cannulae to reach all areas of the meniscus arthroscopically. The SharpShooter® was initially designed specifically for use with the CMI procedure. However, due to its unique method of delivering sutures, ease of use, consistency, and speed it quickly became a standard for use in meniscus repair surgery as well. We are also in development of the IvyAIR, an all-inside meniscus suturing device which has been designed for ease of implantation of the CMI® and as a general purpose meniscus suturing device. The IvyAIR will be introduced in 2014. Ivy Sports Medicine plans to add further complementary products such as knee cartilage repair, soft tissue fixation and ancillary products to develop a comprehensive total clinical solution for knee injuries. The anatomical areas of the shoulder and hip will be future focus areas for ISM. We sell our products through a direct sales force in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and also have a growing distribution network that will include an estimated 20 countries by the end of 2013.
