March is a powerful month for disability advocacy.
From Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to World Down Syndrome Day, National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day, and International Women’s Day, this month highlights the voices, achievements, and experiences of individuals within the disability community.
But awareness is only the beginning.
Advocacy becomes meaningful when it leads to action — in our communities, workplaces, schools, and everyday conversations.
In our latest blog post, we explore why these advocacy days matter and share simple ways individuals, families, and professionals can get involved and support a more inclusive world.
Because building inclusive communities takes all of us.

Safety matters. But so does growth.
In disability services, one of the most important — and often misunderstood — principles is the dignity of risk.
Every person has the right to:
• Try new things
• Make personal decisions
• Pursue meaningful goals
• Learn from mistakes
• Experience independence
Risk is part of being human. And when support is truly person-centered, we don’t eliminate risk entirely — we manage it thoughtfully.
There’s a difference between protecting someone and controlling them.
At Community Supports Network, we believe in replacing “no” with “how.”
How can we make this safe?
How can we prepare for this step?
How can we support independence responsibly?
Because independence isn’t the absence of risk.
It’s the presence of opportunity.

When families choose a disability service provider, they are placing enormous trust in that organization.
Trust that communication will be respectful.
Trust that safety will be prioritized.
Trust that goals will be supported with professionalism and care.
What many don’t see behind the scenes?
Ongoing staff training.
Disability support is skilled work. It requires knowledge, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and a deep understanding of person-centered practices. Effective support isn’t improvised — it’s learned, practiced, and continuously refined.
At Community Supports Network, training isn’t a one-time requirement. It’s a continuous investment in quality, safety, and dignity.
Because when staff grow professionally, individuals benefit personally.
High-quality disability services don’t happen by chance.
They happen by design.

Today we’re celebrating the leader behind Community Supports Network — our CEO, Ted Mayer.

We asked our team one simple question:
“Why do you love working with Ted?”

The answers say everything.

Leadership isn’t about titles — it’s about impact. And at CSN, that impact is felt every single day in the way we support one another and the individuals we serve.

Happy Birthday, Ted. Thank you for leading with integrity, vision, and heart. 🎉

Black History Month is a time to honor resilience, leadership, and progress.
It’s also a time to recognize stories that are often left out of the conversation — including the experiences of Black individuals with disabilities.
The intersection of race and disability reveals both powerful advocacy and ongoing inequities. From the fight for civil rights protections to present-day disparities in access to services, employment, and education — these conversations matter.
At Community Supports Network, we believe equity isn’t seasonal. It’s ongoing.
Person-centered support means recognizing the whole individual — including culture, identity, and lived experience. It means listening without assumptions. It means building trust. It means committing to inclusive, culturally responsive care.
In our latest blog, we reflect on the history, the leaders, and the work that continues.
Because disability rights are civil rights.

Prom is often seen as a milestone—but for many adults with disabilities, opportunities for moments like this are limited or inaccessible.
That’s why inclusive prom nights like Night to Shine, hosted by the Tim Tebow Foundation, matter so deeply. These celebrations are about more than music and dancing—they’re about dignity, belonging, and the joy of being seen and celebrated exactly as you are.
In our latest blog, we’re sharing why inclusive events like these play such an important role in adult disability services—and why joy and connection are essential parts of person-centered support.

Our Story

Started in 2017 CSN is a Provider of Individualized Supports to those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Our story is a modest one. After working in the Industry for several years, we decided it was time to incorporate much of what we learned into practicum. Working closely with families allowed us to see how other Service Providers spent little to no time assessing the needs of the Individual Consumer often just sending the next available Caregiver to fill a need. At Community Supports Network we decided to use a different approach first and foremost assessing need and then painstakingly selecting the right individual from our vast Network of talented Mentors /Aides. Once selected, we would match personality along with skill set to our Consumers schedule. This allows us to boast an incredible less than 2% overall staff turnover! To schedule an appointment with one of our Direct Support Supervisors, call us today at 201 919-3211 and ask to speak with a Staffing Coordinator.
