With our Mama Bear Care mamas and babies, we have to get creative at times. When at times we only have hours, days, weeks, and months, we don't know if our littles will get to experience all of the holidays we cherish most. For July, we love to remind our mama bears to consider celebrating Christmas in July for creating special memories. If you have a Spring or Summer baby, we have included some Christmas in July photo ideas to have records of the memories you want to hold onto with your baby.

We have so many little one's surprise us and make it past when doctors expect, but we also love embracing every opportunity for memory making!

What are your favorite Christmas photo ideas that you have cherished with your baby?

When in hard and distressing times, I love to lean in on this verse. The Hebrew for "perfect peace" is shalom shalom. Are you familiar with the Hebrew word shalom?

Shalom means "completeness, soundness, welfare, peace" (Source: Strongs Concordance).

When our mind is stayed on God, because we trust in Him completely, we are kept in perfect peace, perfect completeness.

Let's me honest, this world is not a peaceful place. We know we find trouble, pain, and grief here, but this is not our eternal home. As we trust in the eternity that God has promised us and the love that He has for us, our mind can be stayed on Him . . . anchored on Him. He doesn't change and get tossed by the waves this world has for us. He is consistent and does not leave our side.

Lean into this verse today. Consider what God's perfect peace looks like in your life and in your circumstances.

We pray shalom shalom for you today ❤

Mama Bear Kristin Connor posted a heartfelt message in our prenatal support group. It touched us so much we asked her if we could share it. Kristin gave us a resounding YES to sharing, saying she wanted as many people as possible to know just how much the support from our ministry has meant to her already.

"I wanted to thank this group and especially Beverly Jacobson for the care package that I received in the mail from Mama Bear Care. I waited a while to open it because I was feeling some imposter syndrome - my little girl’s outlook has actually improved over the past three weeks (she may be born without hydrops now, unlike my son who died from it in 2020) and I felt awful for taking up the group’s time and resources.

But a funny thing happened looking through the carefully prepared literature and gorgeous hand-sewn dress (complete with little strawberries): I was finally able to *feel* the weight of the uncertainty that’s gone along with this pregnancy and cry for the first time. Previously I’ve felt only anxiety and dissociation, often in rapid-fire succession. Thank you for this tangible statement that you care and please know how much it means to me to connect with each of your stories. I don’t know what the future holds but you’ve brought a lot of comfort and healing to my doorstep today. I really needed it."

At Mama Bear Care, our hearts are with the mama bears who have been given a life-limiting diagnosis for their babies. We want you to be supported and have the resources you need for your journey. We have two groups for parents depending on their circumstances.

Our “From Diagnosis to Delivery” Facebook group is a support group providing a safe place for mamas who have received a life-limiting diagnosis for their babies to receive information and resources.

During pregnancy, Sarah learned her unborn baby girl had Triploidy, an extremely rare condition which results in a baby having 3 sets of chromosomes instead of 2. Sarah knew she might not have long with her precious daughter and bravely chose to carry her as long as she could, like a Mama Bear with fierce love and tender care.

Sweet Ellie Ann was stillborn and lovingly dressed in a handmade gown included in the Mama Bear Care Faith Box, sent to mamas who join our prenatal support community.

Sarah writes, "I absolutely love this organization and all it provides! I want to also thank you for the care packages. I am loving the devotionals, and I have loved the book Sunlight in December [written by and included in the MBC Love Box bereavement package]. I have found so many parallels and relate to the author so much. It’s been helpful navigating the journey."

Mama Bear Care received two donations last month in honor of Ellie Ann. We are grateful for these gifts, as they help us support Mama Bears like Sarah as they carry their unique babies with fierce love and tender care.

Did you know? You can set up a recurring donation in honor of a loved one, perhaps a brave Mama Bear or a little one who has passed. Our monthly partners are foundational members of the Mama Bear Movement, and they provide much-needed stability for our organization! All gifts are tax-deductible.

Lord, give me your strength . . .
when the way is hard and the waves threaten to overtake me.
Lord, give me your strength . . .
when the night is silent and the tears are many.
Lord, give me your strength . . .
when the life I planned doesn't go as planned.
Lord, give me your strength . . .
when I'm on my knees in body, heart, and spirit.

Your strength is enough in my weakness.
Your love is enough to embrace me and my baby, always.
Your hope reminds me that this is not the end.

Lord, give me your strength.

Mama Bear Jaalah had a seemingly normal pregnancy until her anatomy scan at 21 weeks. She and her husband were devastated to learn the ultrasound showed their baby girl had problems severe enough to elicit the phrase "incompatible with life." But that wasn't all. It wasn't until more appointments and tests were done that the couple discovered they weren't only carrying one baby, but two - conjoined twin girls!

Although the girls shared one body, each had her own separate head and spine. Their little body had multiple major issues, including a heart that was missing two of its four chambers, barely developed lungs, a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, complete spina bifida, and other complications. The brain and skull of the second twin did not fully develop.

Keep reading to hear more about this brave couple's journey as they named, loved, and cared for not one, but two precious girls.

From Kathryn, our Mama Bear Care Coordinator:

"As a Parent Care Coordinator and Registered Nurse, I guide, support, and coordinate services for parents and caregivers navigating complex healthcare, education, and social service systems. I act as a liaison between families and service providers, ensuring each family's needs are met through careful planning, clear communication, and consistent follow-up. My nursing background gives me a unique understanding of the healthcare system.

In my role, I walk alongside families through all medical, social, and emotional aspects of their journey. I help prepare other children in the family and create supportive care teams for carrying to term. I advocate for families to receive the care they deserve and help them develop birth plans tailored to their specific desires and needs. I also provide lists of trisomy-friendly doctors and hospitals, and support families in preparing questions for their MFM/OBGYN providers, as well as neonatology, cardiology, neurology, and other specialists. If the worst happens, I support the entire family through stillbirth, helping them create memories and assisting with funeral planning if needed."

We love our Mama Bear Care Coordinator and all that she does for our mama bears. Let us know below how Kathryn has been an asset in your journey with a prenatal diagnosis. 💜

We would like to wish all of our Mama Bear Care followers a happy Independence Day!

We are so blessed to be in the United States of America, where many times we do have the ability to find the medical care that allows us to spend the most time possible with our babies with a diagnosis. We hear stories of other countries that do not have these choices, and we praise God for those who fought for freedom in our country so we could continue to advocate for life.

God bless America our home sweet home.

Did you know that July is Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month?

Many babies across the world are born with a cleft palate issue or a craniofacial issue, and many are repairable by surgery after birth. In our graphic, you see this sweet girl who was born with a cleft palate who underwent surgery. Her first picture is before her surgery, the second picture is of her a month after surgery, and the final picture of her is at age 8.

Babies are beautiful no matter what condition with which they are born, including a cleft palate! A malformation doesn't mean we want to see their faces less, but instead we need to show other people their value, dignity, and worth even with these conditions. I'm so glad this sweet girl's mama shared her photos online so we can discuss how precious she and others like her are.

Some of our parents experience a cleft palate or craniofacial issue in addition to a life-limiting prenatal diagnosis. These precious faces are near and dear to our heart.

Did you experience a cleft palate or craniofacial issue for your birth? What awareness do you wish people had about this condition?
