Adult & Teen Challenge Connecticut

Adult & Teen Challenge Connecticut Giving Hope To Adults & Families. Teen Challenge is one of the oldest, largest and most successful programs of its kind in the world.

Established in 1958 by David Wilkerson, Teen Challenge has grown to more than 170 centers in the United States. In 2012, an estimated 22.2 million persons aged 12 or older were classified with substance dependence or abuse in the past year (8.5 percent of the population aged 12 or older). Of these, 2.8 million were classified with dependence or abuse of both alcohol and illicit drugs, 4.5 million had dependence or abuse of illicit drugs but not alcohol, and 14.9 million had dependence or abuse of alcohol but not illicit drugs. Overall, 17.7 million had alcohol dependence or abuse, and 7.3 million had illicit drug dependence or abuse. Teen Challenge has responded with action to statistics like these. Providing residential and non-residential care for thousands of men and women seeking freedom from life-controlling problems, Teen Challenge has become their answer. In the process of breaking down the addiction cycle, Teen Challenge has become a solution to the addiction crisis. Teen Challenge is known throughout the world for providing successful recovery programs. Enthusiastic law enforcement officials, judges, mayors, governors and other prominent community and country leaders advocate the mission of Teen Challenge. Several United States presidents have voiced their appreciation for the unique work of Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge is structured to allow flexibility in meeting the needs of those whose lives have been shattered by addictions. Where residential care is needed, Teen Challenge offers a well-developed, multi-phased discipleship training program. Teen Challenge also provides extensive non-residential assistance through personal and group sessions. Prevention programs are provided to thousands each year through public school assemblies and church meetings. Teen Challenge has significant impact on local communities. By the time an individual enters Teen Challenge he has typically had almost every relationship and family tie shattered that might be helpful in recovery. He has usually formed strong relationships with people and groups that actually perpetuate the addiction spiral. After completing Teen Challenge, hope is restored to more than just the addict, but to the family as well. Solid, positive relationships within community and family are also re-established. Teen Challenge involvement in a community facilitates a reduction in drug-related crimes in the area. Prevention efforts within the community improve since recovered addicts exert a profound impact on family, friends, and community. The economic cost to society is reduced and restored men and women become contributors to their community. Teen Challenge even participates in community projects, outreaches, food bank services, correctional facility meetings, thrift stores and work projects. Many Teen Challenge programs offer assistance and referral services to the community

🎓 January Graduation Chapel – A Reason to Celebrate! 🎉

Today we are celebrating one of our own from Adult & Teen Challenge Northeast – Connecticut!

Ryan has officially completed and graduated from the program, and we are so grateful for the incredible work God has done, and continues to do in his life.

Even more exciting, Ryan will be continuing on with us as an apprentice, and we couldn’t be more thankful for his heart, commitment, and obedience to what God has been shaping in him.

We truly thank God for Ryan and for the transformation He has allowed through surrender and faith. We are looking forward with great expectation to all that God has in store for his future.

Congratulations, Ryan! We are proud of you and excited for this next chapter!

Or residents at Adult & Teen Challenge Connecticut rolled up their sleeves and took on the winter snow right here on our campus! With shovels in hand and hearts full of determination, they cleared walkways and kept our grounds safe, showing the power of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance. Every bit of effort reflects their growth and the work God is doing in their lives. We are so proud of their courage, hard work, and the example they set for all of us!

Eric’s addiction began in high school and slowly escalated from weekend drinking to daily pills, then he**in. His life unraveled through arrests, overdoses, and the heartbreak of watching friends die from the same choices he was making. In 2016 he walked through the doors of Adult & Teen Challenge, surrendered his life to God, and everything changed. He rebuilt his faith, found purpose, and eventually joined our staff, serving with the gifts God restored in him. In addition to being the head of IT & Graphics, Eric enjoys helps ministries and Christian artists with their media production.

Sara’s journey was marked by trauma, abuse, addiction, and deep pain. Years of searching for relief led her into dangerous relationships and he**in use that nearly took her life. After being freed from an abusive situation, she entered Adult & Teen Challenge in 2015. There she encountered God’s love, found healing from her past, earned her GED, and rebuilt her life on a foundation of hope. She is a director of a program overseeing the care of adults with disabilities.

Today, Eric and Sara are married, sober, thriving, and serving others with compassion. Their story is living proof that no life is too broken for God to restore.

Our Dollar a Day campaign helps make transformations like theirs possible. Just one dollar a day provides long-term, Christ-centered care that leads to lasting freedom.
