Mia

Our beloved Isabella Mia of Barefoot Scout, whom we all called "Mia", crossed the rainbow bridge on Sunday evening, December 7, 2025. Mia was born on July 27, 2018, in Gallipolis, OH. Mia was not only a member of our family, but she quickly became a member of our community. Mia attended schools in Wi******er, VA, and Manassas, VA, to receive her certification as a therapy dog. On August 16, 2020, Mia was certified, despite several months of delay due to COVID-19, as a K-9 Caring Angels Certified Therapy Dog.

She enjoyed playing in the snow, swimming in the river, receiving treats, especially “yak cheese”, playing with her sister, Marci and visiting with everyone. She visited students in Grant County schools and was a constant at the funeral home, greeting families. When requested, she would travel with Angie for other events, funeral homes or schools.

As all pet owners know, there is never enough time. We will miss her so much but know that the love she shared will live on. Thanks so much to Drs. Tom and Lesley and the staff at South Branch Animal Hospital for all you have done for her.

To offer condolences, share memories, or upload photos in honor of Mia’s extraordinary journey, visit her Tribute Wall at www.fraleyfuneralhome.com and celebrate the impact she made on all those who knew her.

Charles Frederick Kuykendall

Charles Frederick “Fred” Kuykendall, aka “The Snake Man”, age 67 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday afternoon, December 1, 2025, at his residence. Born on December 6, 1957, near Moorefield, WV, he was a son of the late George Seymour Kuykendall, Sr. and Doris Elaine Southerly Kuykendall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Tommy & Dennis “Short”.

Fred was a true outdoorsman at heart. Whether he was hunting in the lush woodlands, casting a line into a shimmering lake, camping under a blanket of stars, or paddling through the thrilling rapids, he embraced every moment spent with nature. Sundays were made for fire up the NASCAR races or tinkering with his collection of classic cars. His infamous participation in the annual “Rattlesnake Feed” made him a local legend, cherished for his enthusiasm and unmistakable spirit. Friends and family would often describe him as an “ornery old fart,” but to those who knew him, he was an endearing character who lit up every room he entered.

Surviving are two brothers, George S. “Butch” Kuykendall, Jr. (wife Lenore) of Edinburg, VA and Robert L. “Bob” Kuykendall of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Barbara Kuykendall-Copp of Woodstock, VA and several nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, he has been cremated.

To offer condolences, share your favorite memories, or submit photos in honor of Fred’s extraordinary life, please visit his Tribute Wall at www.fraleyfuneralhome.com . Let’s come together to celebrate the impact he made on all of us.
