Betty Lou Burch Welton, age 95 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday morning, May 21, 2026 in Medina, OH. Born on November 29, 1930, in Fabius, WV, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Charles Burch and Grace Irene Wilkins Burch. Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, Harry “Bus” Curtis Welton, Jr., a granddaughter, nieces, a nephew, and her beloved sister, Laura Jean Burch Kent.

Betty Lou grew up on Route 55 at the top of Branch Mountain, living above the Burch Store. When the Burch family later moved to Moorefield, she entered Moorefield High School where she met the football star Harry “Bus” Welton. After graduating from high school and completing two years at Shepherd College, she and Harry were married. She became a devoted farm wife and lovingly raised their three children on their farm.

Her life took a dramatic and eternal turn in the early 1970’s when, while watching Billy Graham on television, she responded to the invitation to trust Christ as her Savior. From that moment on, she faithfully served the Lord out of deep gratitude for the gift of eternal life. Harry passed away in May 2007, and she was able to remain in the farmhouse for eleven more years until it became necessary to move in with her daughter Libby and son-in-law Kris. For the last eight years of her life, they loved and cared for her with devotion until she entered the arms of her loving Lord.

Surviving are her loving children, Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Oluich and her husband Kris Oluich, Harry “Chip” Curtis Welton III and his wife Tammy Lee Welton, and Joseph Andrew Welton and his wife Lisa Michelle Welton, her beloved siblings Minnie Jo Burch Fasig, Esther Irene Burch Brill and John Charles Burch, Jr; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, all of which she loved dearly.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, with her son, Evangelist Chip Welton and Pastor Dan Howard as the officiant. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery, Wi******er Ave. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.

Please join us as we remember the amazing life of Betty Lou by sharing your memories, send your condolences, or upload photos in tribute to her on her Tribute Wall at www.fraleyfuneralhome.com.
