I relive this day everyday and will never forget it. He’s is truly our miracle. A year later and he’s beaten all the odds thrown against him.
My sweet little avocado boy 💜
Happy guess date baby💙 3 week old yesterday!
Seems fitting to share a little bit about how Mr. Reed decided to make his grand entrance.
On Wednesday the 18th I had taken Silas for a check up with our doctor/OB. While there we did a quick ultrasound to see if baby had finally flipped head down. Unfortunately he had not and was feet down, not the news we had hoped for.
Upon getting back home I started doing some positions to encourage him to flip head down. Despite doing these daily in pregnancy, he wasn’t budging.
Thursday the 19th, I got to work doing more exercises and carried on about the day. Around 11:30am I had been feeling uncomfortable and very tired so I took a nap to see if rest would help.
After waking I still felt so uncomfortable and was having some back pains, but they didn’t feel like contractions. As the day went on the pains were still coming and going but not in any pattern and still not feeling like a “normal” contraction. I figured due to his poor positioning I was having practice labor and things would fizzle out.
Around 8 that evening I had a pretty strong pain that made me stop what I was doing but still just brushed it off.
I text my doula and midwife to give them an update on how I felt all day. I was set to see my midwife the following day as well. I told them I may go up to the hospital just to get checked out but wanted to see what a bath and rest would do for me.
After a nice soak things really let up and after laying silas down for bed the pain stopped all together, which made me really think this was just a trial run. Finally falling asleep around 9:45 I felt comfortable staying home still. Sometime after 11 the pain was back in my back but not holding a pattern or showing normal labor signs. At 11:45 I got up again to try a bath for comfort. This time it wasn’t stopping.
I managed to what I still was denying as real labor till a bit after 1am. I needed Jeremiah for some support and to make a decision to go get checked out since I was still only 36 weeks and some days.
At 2:20 am we had let our doula know we wanted to go to Enid and we would call her when we left.
Shortly after 3:15 Jeremiah took silas to his parents, at 3:25 I text him to hurry home, he left there at 3:28.
I had 3 strong contractions in the living room and made it to the bathroom to try and take another bath. By time I got next to the tub my body was bearing down on its own. It was in this moment I was without a doubt having this baby.
I managed to get about 6” of water drawn up before my body bearer down again causing my water to break.
I was panicking at this time because we knew he was still feet down and as I checked myself I was greeted with a very tiny wiggly foot. At this point Jeremiah was still not home and my phone was out of reach. What felt like an eternity passed but was actually just a few minutes, Jeremiah walked in the house. I started to yell call 911 to him and he came to find me and saw what was happening.
There had been a structural fire in town this same night, allowing for first responders to arrive in record time.
In under 10 minutes Kristin White Stinnett was joining us in the bathroom and quickly assisted in bringing this tiny guy earthside at 3:47am.
I couldn’t believe what had just happened and how fast. In such disbelief I almost forgot to ask what gender this little surprise was.
We transferred to get checked over and help little man out some.
We will forever be grateful for those who helped us. We received top notch care from the EMTs and the Woodward hospital L&D staff.
Special thanks also to

This was a very trying and hard pregnancy for me and they all supported me and worked to honor all my wishes and goals. Even though I didn’t have any of them with me in labor, it was their encouragement that kept me going.
