🎉New Service: Parent Coaching for IEP & 504 Support 🎉

Navigating the school system when your child needs extra support can feel overwhelming. Understanding evaluations, knowing what accommodations actually help, and advocating in meetings can be a lot for parents to manage alone.

Dr. Susan Niznik, PsyD, LPC, ADHD-CCSP, a school psychologist since 2012, has spent years on the other side of the desk—conducting evaluations and helping schools create student support plans. Now she’s using that experience to help parents advocate confidently for their children.

Through one-on-one coaching, Dr. Niznik helps parents:
• Understand evaluation results and eligibility
• Navigate the IEP and 504 process
• Identify meaningful accommodations and services
• Prepare for school meetings
• Ensure supports are being implemented in the classroom

✨ Coaching Options
Initial Consultation: $200
Ongoing Coaching: $185/hour
Advocacy Package: $750 for 5 hours of support

You don’t have to navigate the system alone—support is available.

When you’re anxious, your nervous system is often in fight-or-flight.

Cold water can:
Slow your heart rate
Reduce intensity of panic symptoms
Increase present-moment awareness
Create a quick physiological “reset”

It’s especially helpful during:
Panic spikes
Racing thoughts
Emotional overwhelm
Dissociation (mild to moderate)

Cold exposure stimulates the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system, helping shift the body from survival mode toward regulation.

It’s a regulation tool, not a cure.
It works best when paired with slow breathing afterward.
Not recommended for people with certain heart conditions (always use discretion).

Your body reacts before your thoughts catch up. Fight, flight, fawn, and freeze are automatic survival responses—not choices.

Fight: Confronting or resisting the danger directly, often characterized by anger, defensiveness, or aggression.
Flight: Escaping or running away from the threat, which may manifest as anxiety, panic, or overworking.
Fawn: Appeasing, pleasing, or complying with the threat to avoid conflict or gain safety, often ignoring one's own needs.
Freeze: Becoming paralyzed, numb, or stuck, unable to take action due to intense fear.

Awareness helps us respond instead of react.

Anxiety isn’t a character flaw. It’s your nervous system trying to protect you. Sometimes it just gets a little overprotective. Understanding that can shift shame into compassion.

If anxiety is taking up too much space in your day, reach out for support. We're here to help.

Feeling lonely doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It often means you’re craving connection—and that’s a very human need.
