As a recent graduate, Lera is enjoying her role in radiology, where she continues to grow professionally - driven by the knowledge that her work helps support patients through difficult situations. RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is very common in young children and can cause more serious symptoms in the youngest age groups.

Children can catch RSV at any age, but the highest risk for significant symptoms is in:
• Infants and toddlers under 2 years old
• Babies under 6 months, who may have more trouble breathing or feeding
• Children with asthma, chronic lung conditions, or weakened immune systems

Common RSV Symptoms in Children:
• Persistent cough
• Wheezing or noisy breathing
• Fast or labored breathing
• Fever
• Runny nose or congestion
• Decreased appetite
• Irritability or trouble sleeping
• In infants: pauses in breathing, lethargy, or difficulty feeding

Because RSV spreads easily through coughs, sneezes, shared toys, and surfaces, outbreaks in daycares and schools are common.

If your child is struggling to breathe, has a worsening cough, signs of dehydration, or severe symptoms, AFC is here to help.
